That the only person who can legally take of a police man/women's hat is a pregnant women to pee in?
Heard this today & thought it was boll*x but would be interested to know what the law actually states.

Isn't that a misinterpretation of an old law which provides that it is illegal to urinate in public unless you are pregnant (or under 6) ? No mention of coppers' helmets, AFAIK..

I've heard:

It's an old law that was misinterpreted but none the less, that is the case. And parliament can't be arsed to change the rule as it rarely (if ever) happens.

People have asked, they've been told to go away.

But if they are pregnant & the law states that this can be done, how can you deny them of this?

I don't know about that, but if you ask a police officer to walk in the gutter - he's legally obliged to. Let us know how you get on!

I don't know why I think I know this but.......

I believe you can urinate on your own car tyre (carriage wheel) in public. As long as it goes on your carraige first and then dribbles down to the ground, it is ok.
I imagine you still need to cover up a bit in order to avoid public indecency etc...

Also, I think that is why old style uniformed coppers had capes. To shroud the pregnant person from view while they carried out the deed.

Is there not a special day of the year for shooting Frenchman with an arrow and also a special day for doing in the Welsh with a certain implement. (I am not sure what it is - maybe it is whatever comes to hand)

Clearly the law of today supercedes a lot of these old laws making them somewhat amusing but useless.

Highly unlikely. AIUI, its just an old piece of law (relating to public peeing) which has been misinterpreted and misreported over the years.

Yeah i've heard that. I've also been told we are legally allowed to shoot anyone from Scotland who carries a bow and arrow in England.

"It is legal for a male to urinate in public, as long it is on the rear wheel of his motor vehicle and his right hand is on the vehicle"
A pregnant female is legally allowed to relieve herself anywhere - even in a policemans helmet ...

Yes, any day ending in "y" is fine for shooting the Welsh .... wink

Some other unrepealed laws for you:

In London, Hackney taxis must carry a bale of hay and a sack of oats.

It is illegal to be drunk in a pub or club, or any other licensed premises.

Oddly, it is illegal to consume a mince pie on Christmas Day.

In Hereford, you may not shoot a Welsh person on Sunday with a longbow in the Cathedral Close.

However, in Chester you can only shoot a Welsh person with a bow and arrow inside the city walls and after midnight.

Also in York, excluding Sundays, it is apparently legal to shoot a Scotsman with a bow and arrow.

In Liverpool, it is illegal for a woman to be topless in public unless they are a clerk in a tropical fish store.

It is illegal for a Member of Parliament to enter the House of Commons wearing a full coat of armour.

Sleeping with a consort of the queen is classified as treason, and as such carries a maximum penalty of death.

Placing a postage stamp of the queen upside down, is also considered treason.

It is unlawful to impersonate an Chelsea pensioner.

It is illegal to sell most goods on a Sunday. It is however legal to sell a carrot. It is also legal to sell it at any price, and to give free gifts with it, such as anything else one might want to buy on a Sunday.
