This always makes me chuckle, as the max speed legal in the uk is 70 so what does the speed rating matter. Although I've had remoulds in the past that have max speed 60mph stamped on the side in the past, above about 65 they used to shed chunks of rubber !!!N 87

The space saver at the moment is on the drivers rear side.
What car ?On a FWD car that's correct, on a RWD car the space saver goes on the front.
Check your owners manual just to be safe.

Hey im new here got directed over from E38 i need a question answered quite quickly so
need some advice please...
friday coming back from holiday we got a puncture so put on the space saver which has never been used and is in perfect condition.
saturday morning coming back from my ma's not speeding not doing anyhting illegal and the police (undercover) pull me.
so they ask when i put the space saver on.. i say friday, they asked why i aint got a new tire put on yet so i say (its the missus focus) that she is getting a new one on tuesday but they had to order it in which is the truth.
they then say that it is totally illegal to drive around at all with a space saver on (apart from the place where u got the flat and ur home) and proceed to give me a £60 fine and 3 points!!!!!!!
so i werent very pleased at all as u can guess.
anyway spoke to the missus uncle who is a copper in south london and he says its total bollards and i should appeal against it......
........so the question is does anyone know what the law acutally is on using space savers????? any help is good help
cheers toby
Errm, I would’ve though that your missus uncle, who’s a copper, could’ve helped you out a bit more? Does he not like you?need some advice please...

BTW, you haven’t been ‘given’ a £60 fine and 3 points. Those are ultimately up to
The Courts. I’d flip the ticket over, read what to do and appeal.

Erm... this thread is 9 and a half years old - it's a bit late for the OP to contest it!BTW, you haven’t been ‘given’ a £60 fine and 3 points. Those are ultimately up to

Once you've been issued a ticket there's not a lot another officer can do about the ticket. Indeed, Professional Standards would take a very dim view of any interference.BTW, you haven’t been ‘given’ a £60 fine and 3 points. Those are ultimately up to

What... my car has a lot wider wheels on the back than on the front, it's rear wheel drive and the rear wheel wouldn't fit in place of the front.
