Most likely is that you will be heavily critisized by the PH punctuation police for excessive use of question marks!!!!!! smile

Apart from that a ban, I'll guess siz months and a fine that's about two weeks wages.

As others have said - I think you will be banned.

Doing 125mph on an empty good stretch of road and not realising something is keeping up with you are two different things.

I don't have a problem with people doing that speed in the proper circumstances but you need to keep a good eye around you and that's half the battle.

I take it the officer didnt deal with it at the side of the road and you will be going to court? Do you have any point currently? I would expect a ban of between 1 and 3 months. If you already have 6 points rather than an instant ban you may get a further 6 points and therefore be banned under totting up (6 month minimum I believe).

Also a fine which is means tested.

124mph on the M18 very light traffic, got 8 weeks ban and a 350 pound fine, but no points.
Strangely this had zero effect on my insurance (and I disclosed it) Integrale insurance this year was £240 fully comp.

Basically plead stupidity, effect on job etc.

What evidence is being used against you?

Good effort. Why does 125mph not seem 'too' bad but 130 is WOAH?

Best of luck chap. My advice is, don't pick up the soap, although I don't speak from experience.

The cut off limit is 96mph for a fixed penalty. Therfore its a trip to court now.
Possible outcome will be upto 6 points, maximum fine upto £1000,disqualification is possible and can be between 7-56 days.

Are you sure - I can't find the exact law but a number of sites suggest longer:

http://www.drivingban.co.uk/drivingban/speedingoff... (120 days)
http://www.motorlawyers.co.uk/offences/speeding.ht... (90 days if 40% over limit)
http://www.pattersonlaw.co.uk/Offences/Court/Discr... (56 days)

Can anyone provide the absolute guidelines?

Get a lawyer..!!

Mate of mine was done for 117mph on the A1(M).

He got something like a £1,500 fine
2 week driving ban
0 points
Oh, and £1,500 legal costs (good value in his eyes)

A colleague is a magistrate and (at the time) his best advice was to get legal representation, be smart, grovel but the outcome all depends on what mood the mag is in on the day...
