The cut off limit is 96mph for a fixed penalty. Therfore its a trip to court now.
Possible outcome will be upto 6 points, maximum fine upto £1000,disqualification is possible and can be between 7-56 days.
Are you sure - I can't find the exact law but a number of sites suggest longer:

http://www.drivingban.co.uk/drivingban/speedingoff... (120 days)
http://www.motorlawyers.co.uk/offences/speeding.ht... (90 days if 40% over limit)
http://www.pattersonlaw.co.uk/Offences/Court/Discr... (56 days)

Can anyone provide the absolute guidelines?
Magistrates' Court Penalty Guidelines: (assuming an income of £500/month)
Points: 6
Normal fine range: £375 - £625
Disqualification possible? Consider 7-56 days
Maximum fine: £2500
The speed you gave exceeds the standard penalty guidance. Other charges or more severe penalties are possible.

So you could get 6 point OR 7-56 day ban OR something else they might consider on the day. i.e. it's all down the Magistrates you get on the day.

I got stopped on the A120 in Essex last october for 124mph on a dual carriageway. I had 3 points already for using a hand-held mobile phone in traffic. I got six points, an £850 fine (+ costs and the frightful Harman's 'victim surcharge' - whatever the badgery f*ck that is....) and no ban.

I represented myself in court, demonstrating a blend of contrition and "Whilst it is I who have been stupid, it is others who will lose their jobs if I am banned"

This chap on MX5 Nutz got this..

As some of you know I was up in court yesterday for a speeding offence.Basically I was on a 70mph limit when I was detected by a Police Officer travelling at 105mph.It was 08:45 on a fine sunny Sunday morning and as stated by the Public Prosecutor there was little or no other traffic. The magistrate saw fit to ban me for six months with a £300 fine and I have to pass the driving test before I can get my licence back.

It's a fair cop as I was breaking the law and was one of the unlucky ones caught by a copper hiding down a sideroad.I do think however that the sentence was rather harsh as do my Barrister and Solicitor. No doubt this thread will get the usual reply from the shouldn't break the law brigade, who no doubt will break the law in some way in their lifetime.
For 105mph.. I think the 'Passing a driving test again' is abit far.

Another bit of the thread..

The opening post states the speed limit on the road in question was 70mph.Thats the maximum speed limit on dualcarriageways and motorways only.
I wish I could get chauffered around,i'm the only driver in my household.
I am certainly not a danger to anyone, there was no other traffic on any side of the carriageway at the time.

I do not have the mentality that thinks speeding is alright. My clean licence might sway some weight to that argument. How can you say that when you know nothing at all about me.

Your glad i'm off the road, you have absolutely no idea of my circumstances and what it means for me to not be able to drive.
Yeah it's never ok to do that speed on any road as it's illegal.
Your post was an emotive one,the magistrate in question gave an emotive sentence when he's supposed to be impartial.I've just found this out.
I would consider myself driving my 5 at 105mph on the same deserted carriageway for less than 1 mile to be a lot more responsible and safer than the driver with barely legal tyres travelling at 60 on an A road in torrential rain that ran clean over the top of me and my bike.I too have personally suffered because of inappropriate speed even though it was within the law.
Certainly excessive speed does kill thats fact.

Until you can tell me with all honesty that you have never ever broken any speed limit at any time including roadworks speed limits then you have no high moral ground to stand on and it's time for you to fall off that high horse your sitting on.Be mindful that some day you might fall off that horse like many before you.

Incidentally 105mph is quite slow to me,i'm well used to travelling at speeds well in excess of twice the maximum national speed limit on a motorcycle around a roadrace track. Now there are some that would say that qualifies me as being a lunatic. You certainly are entitled to your opinion as is everyone else and i'm sure there will be lots of people who will give their opinion of you and your post, they too are entitled to their opinion.Good Luck.

Being caught at that speed there is a possibility that you may face a dangerous driving charge insted of "excessive speed".

Presumably you were stopped at the time by a traffic cop?

What did he/she say?

You will have to wait for the summons to come through before your sure exactly what you are facing.

What time and what car stopped you?

It'll be a summons for speed. Dangerous is circumstance not speed dependant.

There is no statutory maximum ie a court can disqualify for such period as it sees fit.

By the roadside?

Amazed if that is the case!

It does happen. Depends on circumstance and the person stopped.

The fpn will be issued for excess speed. If contested then the full evidence is offered at court.

Officers on the ground are more generous in general as we accept that people who are over the limit are not criminals and we want them to feel fairly dealt with.

I never ticket below 90.

Yep I know of one case where the driver was clocked on camera at 127 on an A road, officer issued a fpn for 99, 3 points £60 fine.

(Not me driving I might add!)
