Still no excuse. Why didn't he stop to tend to the child instead of speeding up?
The bloke livid about 1 mile away from where he was stopped.

It's a stupid excuse - unless you are saying the kid was in serious danger and needed medical help (though if that was the case he'd be heading for A&E not home)

I have 4 kids, I've seen my fair share of kid sick...I've never thought it would justify driving like a tt.

I was caught at 105mph on the A2 in 2005 on my way to Le Mans and was banned for 14 days & given a £200 fine - represented myself in court.

Who said he was driving like a 'tt'? Granted, he was in excess of the speed limit, but no-where did I say he was driving like a fool.

My point was that there are mant benefit scroungers 'legally' claiming for the likes of disability benefit. (So called bad back/depression). We know it's fraudulent, but it's legal. What's the difference. The benefit leeches get castigated (rightly) for stealing from the country. Why is it any different for those that 'legally' fiddle Tax and VAT. They're stealing from the country in exactly the same way.
I agree with you on this - sorry - I misunderstood in your initial posting.
Not quite.

One is taking money out and puting Jack in.

The other is putting less in than they otherwise might.

I'm not a great fan of it but then again I'm not complaining about it because if I could legally pay less tax than I do I sure as hell would pay less! Just because I can't take advantage of something doesn't mean I consider it unfair that others can - well not always smile

Agree? Why?! The tax law is as it is to encourage people to take a risk and get out there. Seems that people moan about this kind of thing when they could go out and take the risk too but choose not to.

The nuumber of people I've heard spout rubbish like this, but when I say to them "Well if it's so unfair, why not do it yourself? You can. You could set up a ltd. co. today and be contracting next week.". Invariably the moaners come back with "I like the security...". Well...make your mind up... rolleyes

Bit like Public sector pensions really. If you wanted one, you should have become a dustman! Double standards as always. Of course, you would have had to pay all the tax you were supposed to.

(And apologies to the OP. His thread has certainly gone adrift! smile )

Not to mention the Public Sector Pensions where the workers have been paying in 11% for a bloody long time tongue out

If he's doing 125mph in the UK while a kid is vomiting all over his car...he's a tt, and driving like one.

Im starting to think Kent has a downer on speeding.
Why??

Did you get done too or something. You honestly have to try incredibly hard to get done for speeding in kent. I mean really like driving flat out past plod in their marked up car at 150mph whilst giving them the finger.
...Or drive down Bluebell Hill a tad over the limit. The scam van was sat on the 'easy pickings' bridge at the bottom of it on my way home this afternoon.

..Or wait for any sort of motoring event at Detling.Once you pass the speed camera there, they sit on a blind bend only yards past it, waiting for you to speed up again..

So what you're saying is, that 125mph is unsafe, or that the bloke is completely disregarding the law, or both?

They are quite different things in certain circumstances, ones such as these in fact.

That's what you simply don't get. Tax Avoidance *is* paying all the tax you are supposed to. Rather than being a twit and paying more than you are supposed to. rolleyes

If the government intended that dividend income and employment income were 'supposed' to be taxed the same then why did they establish differing tax treatments for them?

If you really looked at self employment you'd find many more interesting tax treatments / benefits than the split between dividend and employment income. I could provide a few examples if you really want.

If you really want to get excited about tax evasion / avoidance there are many many many very aggressive tax planning schemes out there. Some of which even I morally refuse to sell (that said many of them I'm quite prepared to go and sell).

Both. I don't believe you can drive at 125 with a child vomiting all over your car safely....it certainly screws with your observation skills.....as demonstrated by the fact he got caught.

Yup. He's talking about something he clearly knows nothing about...

Shall I wind him up even more by telling him that you only get taxed 10% on dividends up to £35K (give or take), and the tax man gives you a 10% tax credit on top. So...actually it's 0%...or would his head explode if he learned this? hehe

Tell him you then do the same for your wife...and you get to sleep with them! Sex and tax efficiency, he'll explode.

It does happen. Depends on circumstance and the person stopped.

The fpn will be issued for excess speed. If contested then the full evidence is offered at court.

Officers on the ground are more generous in general as we accept that people who are over the limit are not criminals and we want them to feel fairly dealt with.

I never ticket below 90.
Bugger, can't get more than 89mph on the West Malling bypass in my G-Wizz.

confused Not sure I get your input into this thread. I travel that section of Mway a fair few times a year and other than once or twice in the last 8 years, when there are roadworks and the usual bunch up at the start as peeps get released from customs, very often there are sections you could easily cruise up to 125 between junctions. Admittedly I value my licence too much to do so personally but it's not like he caused small children and fluffy little kittens to spontaneously combust.
