I thought I had read somewhere, or heard that what can be done is some sort of jamming device which doesnt need to get the codes, it just stops you locking the car (without you realising, unless you are particularly paying attention).

You blip to lock and assume the car is locked, but it isn't as the fob was jammed.

Yes that's being done as well. They would have to have got to the car before it self locked though.

Im cringing for you OP.
That is utterly horrible. Worst of everything. How often do you have a car so full of valuables? Never.
Worst case scenario.
I don't know of the exact terms of your insurance but in the past I have had three different insurance claims refused flat out, and in all three cases I have been paid out after persevering.
I guess, though, that thier argument is that you left it unlocked? Is there any way of proving otherwise?

Unless the car has keyless-go, it won't self lock.

"Forced and violent" is well known, and the FOS certainly know what it means. Violent = needs evidence of damage. Yours was forced, but not violent.

IMHO you will struggle with a complaint to the FOS purely on that basis.

I've no idea what that is! Just going on the OP saying it self locks. And presuming it's not the instant the door shuts then there's a window of opportunity of an unknown length.

'lol'? Are people still using that expression? Seems a bit out of place on this forum.

Would you like to provide some facts regarding insurance company being scum and being prosecuted for theft?.

...well as you seem to be so arrogant not to understand why so many people are ablsolutely fed with insurance companies that are only too willing to take ones money....and up premiums without good cause cause and then try and weedle out of any claim that one makes....I suppose that is "the way" I am talking about me 'ol son.

p.s. Career?

p.p.s. If you can't stand the heat in the kitchen....well.....I guess you know the rest.

So tell us what it was that happened to you. Undeclared modifications, I'm guessing.

There are plenty of good reasons why insurance premiums are put up, whether you car to believe them or not is a different matter.
I wouldn't say im arrogant, i'm fully aware of peoples dislike for insurance, part of that dislike is their ignorance as to how insurance works in the 1st place.

Ok, tell me why my renewal premiums are always way higher than a new policy with the same insurer?

I find if you stay with the same insurer for more than a year they think they can slowly lift your premium up, Being loyal to an insurance company does not work, shop around.

Surely as technology moves on insurers need to adapt their definitions? It's like hacking for cars.

I'm guessing you do your quotes online, when you do any quote online most insurers will offer a large discount for an internet quote thus making it lower than your renewaL.
If your with a particularly decent insurer they will match if not then that insurer dosn't really want your business for various reasons.

If you don't do your quotes online and use a broker over the phone they will have a list of prices say from £300-£700 they'll start say somewhere at £550 and keep coming down till you accept, is there anything wrong with this? no of course not like most business they are in it for profit and if you don't like there price take your business elsewhere.
