Before you say it, these properties do need multiple cars - the bus service is not good enough for anyone who works vaguely normal hours, plus nearest bus stop is around a mile from the road in question.
If people didn't have cars then the bus service would expand to take up the demand.
Funniest post I've seen this year!

The large town at the end of the bus route doesn't even have a bus station any more... It was rebuilt into a (failed) arts facility and they still haven't decided where to put the new one..
Which town is that?

Chester (we live about 6 miles outside it) doesn't have a bus station anymore ether, but there are still plenty (many people think too many) buses.
Ah - The joys of living in West Brom ???

Colchester - this is the reason the bus station went.

I mentioned the bus station as an example of how high(!) value the local authorities place on providing a decent transport system.

We had a grumpy old tosser in our Close who bought an old Peugeot Estate to park smack bang in the middle of both parking spaces outside his house just to stop anybody parking there - neither he or his wife drives, they have a garage & a single parking space. When the car went for its MOT he had the bloke who collected it park HIS car in its place to stop anybody (me!) from parking there instead! He kept this up for about 18mths despite annoying 7 of his neighbours with his selfish, ignorant attitude. Me, I just found it amusing as it was partly my fault by parking my motorhome outside his house for less than 24hrs while my immediate neighbours painted their house.

Blimey - what's happened to the 'bus station?

Gone the same way as Mercia Square?

I know it's childish, but people who behave like this make me want to infuriate them even further on purpose, just to teach them a lesson!

Is there a grass verge there at all? If so, you should find out if the old laws about being able to graze your animals on public land apply, and get oen of those gypo Ponies tethered up out there biggrin

OP, you should learn a few chess moves. Next time, park 2 of your cars there. Leave enough space between them so either can get out.

Indeed! When the children lived with us, neither of them could get to work (on time) by public transport. They needed cars, which made five in total for the family. Fortunately, we could get four on the drive and one on the road - Streaky

I would do this!

Mind you, I would also invest in a bit of CCTV equipment.

Alternatively, leave enough space so it looks like there is room to get that fester inbetween them but it's actually a few mm too short. Then video the neighbours trying to get their car in. If possible go out and star in your video as well (radio mic as an option) by "helping" them to park ... "that's it, nearly there, keep it going ..." <crunch> "oops".

I think you need to park 3 of your cars there full time and let your visitors park on your driveway smile

Does that large gate have a padlock on it ?, if not could you put your own on it, just for fun

They'd be mad to try and park that close to my Golf anyway. If I put a tenner of diesel in it the value of it doubles!

You mean "Under the latest planning regulations it's not allowed to extend hard-standing, you must use something porous.".

Yep and charge a reasonable fee smile
When we buy a car we have to think where we're going to keep it.
We cant just leave it in the road and hope no-one notices. Next we'll be complaining the roads are all clogged up
What are roads for?

It's probably an age thing - keeping the place tidy and not upsetting the neighbours ( or anyone driving through) by leaving a car in the street
Wheres Oldsoak smile
When i bought my car i thought about where i was going to keep it. On the road. Outside my house. Works quite well really see me and my neighbours all live in terraced houses with no front gardens or off-road parking. No public car parks within miles that wouldn't require a re-mortgage to use (Due to our proximity to Manchester city centre) but we have this amazing system that works - We all park our cars outside our own houses. If someone else is already parked there, We park in the next available spot. When the spot outside your house is free, If its really that much of an issue for you - You then move your car there. It's amazing, No ones ever come to blows over it and the 5 joining streets have never ground to a halt.

Tell you what though, Maybe we should go corncrete over the playing fields across the road so we can park without upsetting you or Deva Link. The kids can always play football in the roads then - There'd be no cars to hit with the balls!.
Well said that man, sense at last.

I still have a feeling this is the direction theyre heading by fencing off their parking space and beginning the parking on the road, until someone breaks the chain
saaby93 said:
This is what happens on some estates. You can see from the photo that most people are keeping their cars out of the way and off the road. you only need one person to start parking in the road for people to start taking umbrage about how we cant get through like we used to and why cant they park off the road like everyone else. (This probably applies to Munchers neighbours who've put up a fence then park in the road outside it.)
The next thing that happens is someone begins parking in the road outside your house. This is particularly annoying as youve kept the space outside your house clear by parking on the drive
To stop this happening you begin parking in the street. See above for what the neighbours think.
The someone has to park outside someone elses house - and repeat above.

Before you know it you have a street that's barely passable with cars parked either side and no-ones happy, neighbours dont get on and the whole place degenerates.
Just because something is lawful doesnt mean it's a good idea.
What next
