For the OP, all street lights in Leeds are being replaced as part of a PFI. The 5 year replacement comes to an end this summer. Pretty much all of them will be replaced. If the light is obtrusive get on the phone and see what they will do.

That lamp definitely shouldn't have been left. It contains sodium and other nasties and should be properly crushed and disposed.

Open the door on the lamp post and remove the fuse. Big white thing, can't miss it.
I thought lamp posts were grey.

SSE Contracting proposed a new lamppost installation 1ft from the entrance to my drive which also would have shined directly into my bedroom, email Ian.Moore@leeds.gov.uk who is in charge of making sure SSE Contracting do a proper job.

I got the lamppost position moved to the spot were the original one was situated, Ian Moore agreed the new position at the end of my drive was wrong.

I also had to email councillor at Andrew.Carter@leeds.gov.uk when SSE Contracting totally ignored the advice from the council and dug the pavement up anyway

Don't bother emailing SSE Contracting as they don't give a sh**.

I must say the new ones they finally put in on our street are much better.

The old ones used to turn on like HID's then go orange and illuminate about 1feet radius of the actual lampost. The new ones look a nice green colour and illuminate the whole street smile
