Thanks; how very strange that he didn't mention it.
He states that someome else bought it on a previous auction, but backed out. Sounds like he might have got wind of it's history.

The Corvette world in the UK is very small and word gets about quick on cars with history. As always something is cheap for a reason. better off selling it back in the States!

There is an Escalade for sale on here too that appears to have been clocked. It had done 10,000 miles two years ago but now it's only covered 6,500. Magic! Perhaps they drove it in reverse for a while......

For some reason I decided to contact the seller of the Le Mans Blue Z06 last night and ask him if he was aware that the car had a Branded Title in the U.S. I also asked him if he was informing potential purchasers of this. His response is below. I should also warn all prospective purchasers that there is a 2001 C5 Z06 that has a questionable mileage history given it is listed as having covered 58,000 miles but according to the GMVIS database had covered 61,500 miles in June 2008.........
Reply:- "Hi yes I am aware of that. This car will most Lilly be sold in Germany or France so I do not need to disclose that info. It is upto buyer to do research. Thanks"

Oh I've been there over the black Z06 that was over in Germany. In his case he blatantly lied to me.

Beware of a Black 05 registered Z06 on Autotrader. It is on a Salvage title in the US. Yet another 'mine' for any potential buyer.

Anyone had a look at the Z06 over at BHP Motorsport; looks good. Researching into Z06's seems a lot of car for the money. I have had a Viper in my time but never really considered corvette's maybe i should.

I haven't checked the VIN but it looks like a proper car. At first I was worried as it is the spitting image of the original car that was lent to/destroyed by Top Gear. Given that it is a one owner car though I would imagine that it isn't. It would be worthwhile having a good look at what has been spent on it in its life as it is certainly one of the highest mileage Z06's I've seen. The clutch would be of particular interest if you were to view it as there is no definitive lifetime nor can the plates be measured either. You would have to look for signs of slippage and clutch fluid contamination.

We supplied it at Park Lane. It came at the same time as the press car.
Well used, but from what I remember also mechanically well looked after. The owner is a definite car nut, particularly American cars.
Having driven it on a couple of occasions (albeit briefly), I found it the most responsive Z06 I'd been in apart from godzilla's Lingenfelter.
The hurst shifter is definitely an improvement, but it can amplify transmission noises slightly.
