Corvettes Don't Handle....

Do you other owners get fed up with people expressing opinions about the handling of your car when they obviously have no experience of driving them?
The C6 Z06 often gets referred to as a big heavy beast, yet mine now weighs less than 1400kg and is the same length as a 911 and narrower than a Lotus Evora.
Arriving at Silverstone for a track day last week the usual comments were made. By the end of the day however a lot more respect was forthcoming….

I used to, but now I kind of feel glad that they don't know what a great handling performance bargain I have found, so that way it can stay that bit rarer on UK roads.
I did a track day at Bedford last year in mine (2001 Z06), and a co-worker brought his Cayman along. He commented as a passenger mine felt like it was rolling more in the corners, which at the time I agreed with, after finding his quite a pointy and sharp tool as you might expect. I looked back at some photos we had taken and the roll angles on mine are pretty minimal, and if anything you could argue his looked more. Maybe it's what you perceive when you are sat further back in a Vette with the engine up front.

I can understand someone making those 'handling' remarks about earlier Vettes (C3 for example) - and to a degree comments would be valid 'today'. However back in 'the day' Vettes were always a fairly equal match in handling to most non-exotic European 'sports cars'. These comments will some from people who only ever gain knowledge second and third hand from ill-informed and biased press coverage.
