Hi Corvette owners/enthusiasts. I’m in a pickle at the moment so thought I’d reach out for some help from anyone who may have gone through the same experience…..
My car ( c6 victory edition) was scraped by another car. The insurance company have assessed the damage on photographs I’ve provided and suggested there may be suspension damage. I figure this is highly unlikely due to the speed of impact and the damage and suspect this is to up the value/severity of the claim? I think because of this suspected damage 2 of the workshops I suggested to do my repairs have declined saying they can’t get the parts. They’ve now suggested cash in lieu of repairs.
So…..thoughts please?
I’m gonna see what the cash figure is, but then who/how do I get to check if there is damage to the suspension? If I take this option is the car then associated with an insurance category marker?
If I decline the cash in lieu, I guess we have to go down the route of finding someone who will take on the repairs, so any recommendations? Preferably near me in sussex or Surrey or even Kent, or does it not matter if the repair place is the other side of the country?
Sorry…lots of questions, but hopefully someone will have more knowledge than me on these things.
Thanks in advance,
Wraggy.

This may be a silly question but isn't it an option to have another (high quality) make of suspension fitted that isn't necessarily OEM? (if it was deemed necessary).

It’s not a silly question, and that may be a solution….thanks, I’ll look into it.

The above Custom Exotics will be able to sort everything for you and your insurance company.

I take my C7 to a corvette specialist in Surbiton who no doubt can help if that’s any use to you?

Thanks for the replies…I’ve sent the details of IGS to the accident management company. I found their details trawling through posts on here and the corvette club, so hopefully they can help out, otherwise I will try custom exotics as posted above thumbup

Quick update for anyone interested. Had the geometry checked and it was a little out but nothing significant, but now it’s all sorted. I’m still waiting to find out if the company I want will fix the bodywork…the accident management company don’t seem to have their finger on the pulse and no one seems to know what’s happening when I chase them up for an update….trying to be patient. rolleyes

I thought I would update as all is now resolved. It seems that none of the companies approached were willing to do business with the insurers or the accident management company-not sure which….so I had only one option and that was to take the money in lieu of repairs. They gave me the money straight away minus the VAT. I queried this and their response was “ if you get it fixed, send the bill and we will try and claim the VAT from the insurance company.”
My repair was done by a local guy, and the bill didn’t come up to the insurance quote, so whilst I cannot claim the VAT, I am still “in pocket”. He’s done a great job, and I’m just pleased to have my car back, looking great and ready to display at Goodwood next weekend for v power Sunday. Thanks for everyone’s help and suggestions.
If anyone finds themselves in a similar position, if you don’t need a hire car I would probably recommend not using an accident management Co. and try dealing straight with the third parties insurance company (if that’s possible?). In my view the accident management Co just muddied the waters at every stage and proved to be pretty much incompetent.
As a side note, any corvette owners Near East Grinstead on here? In the last few weeks I’ve seen a yellow C7 (not you UTH👍) and a red C6…

Looked like it should be a fairly simple repair.

Pretty sure too, money in lieu of a repair is a better outcome anyway, as it means the damage is not recorded in the same manner on their system ?

It is ridiculous and shows how dodgy insurance companies are though, when companies doing repairs do not trust or want to work for them

The damage is too minor to be recorded. It's only if the car is a write off.

Missing a wheel? Tell us more….
Guess you won’t be at Goodwood then, shame. Was hoping to have good look at yours. At least I might be the only yellow vette there now hehe

Puncture needs repairing. Sadly Goodwood is a no, they didn’t even accept my application!
