I am thinking of arranging a ZR-1 gathering for Europe to coincide with another event.
ZR-1 owners on this forum what do you think and are you up for it??,with the power of communications these days there is no reason why we couldnt get a few from mainland Europe or would it be better to go to Mainland Europe.

Hey Cliff, My site is now coming along and I have added a ZR1 section to it as well. I am now thnking of adding a UK ZR1 registry to it. If we could get everyone to log their cars on it, it would be a start to estimating how many cars are in the UK. What do you think ??

By the way Kerenz has booked the hotel for the gathering and is now looking into flights - you still thinking of going ????

Good idea Cliff, I'd definitely be interested in such a gathering. How about having it in Germany...

I would also be interested. I have seasonal plates, so I can only drive between April and the end of October.

EVO magazine had a feature on this road, so you may want to give it a try if you come down south.

Hello everyone,

Maybe i have an idea to keep this topic a little alive...
Malc pointed me into this direction, and i think it's a great idea to orginize a ZR1 meeting. I don't know if you know Idstein (Germany)? That is or was one of the biggest Corvette meetings on mainland Europe (i thought this year was the last year unfortionatly)
This year was also the first year for Corvette Fame in Valkenburg NL, it's almost on the intersection Germany/Netherlands/Belgium so it's not so far for the most... I thought there was room for 500 vette's and we didn't make a full room this year, but maybe next.
I think maybe it's a good idea to take a look at it, and see if it's something for you. I think when you plan this good there could be a special ZR1 please on the location, for that special group. It's a beautiful site (on a "hillside") and the first weekend of July. (yes it's a weekend meeting if you like..) Problem is you need a reservation for saterday and/or sunday (tickets) to enter the meeting, so reservation will be necessary, and book a hotel in time it's very busy there in the summer!
Here are some links to picture's from this year's event!

(if the links don't work, i still didn't get it after 3 edits.. )

I like to know what you guys think about it!?...
(sorry if there are some errors in the text... dutch doesn't even come close to english! )

Greets Peter.

Seems like a great idea to me and the location seems ideal. I'd definitely be interested in going next year.

Yeah, been a while... too long. Glad to hear you and Louis are well, please tell him I said "Louis, are you ok?" He might remember!
Yes, off to Spain, looking forward to that.
How's that Black Bomb running, strong I hope?
Hope to see you guys soon too, in any case, no later than next year's Euro Gathering? (Had to get it back on topic.)

Greets Peter.

Hi Peter,
Did you get my email last week regarding the wheels on the convertible red C4 at Idstein and Valkenburg?
John.

Some more ideas
A/ a weekend in the UK Saturday at Jeal&sons Dyno/workshop ,and Sunday at Santa Pod/Avon Park

B/ the Swiss Corvette club run down to Nurburgring for the weekend ,where they use the track + drag racing and static show

C/ The links put up by Peer81 are also interesting.

what do you think!!,although its primarily a ZR-1 Gathering idea at this stage all vettes are welcome.

Think we really need to get some thing planned in the new year so i can get on with contacting clubs etc

Cliff - 2 real good ideas. Might I suggest that a Euro Gathering would be better attended if the venue was in continental Europe.
And that event shouldn't be as an "instead of" to GJ's shop but "in addition to" at another time.
There's been some suggested locations so far, plus I guess you might have a couple of ideas up yer sleeve. I know Geoff and Nigel are already looking at Euro trips in 2004. How about jumping on the back of an already scheduled event like the Vette/Viper ding-dong Nigel was talking about. Think of all the time saved and hassle avoided.

I have been thinking of re-starting "Camp LT5" but for the UK an European owners rather than for the Americans as it was. I have had inquiries from the Dutch and French clubs so maybe we could combine it with the "dyno Saturday" I was thinking of for September.

I REALLY like the idea of joining the Swiss club at the Nurburgring, better take the car on a trialer!!

Checked it out and the SCCI Euro Corvette/Viper Meeting 2004 is at Hochenheim, not Nurburgring and it appears to be the same weekend as the 1000km race at the Ring.

So I have emailed the SCCI to get details, and I feel a tour of Germany coming on for that weekend.

1 Day watch the racing at the Nurburgring and the other day at Hochenheim either watching or hopefully going around the track!

I have already booked the Eurotunnel for that weekend so once I find the bit of paper at home with the details, I will let you all know. Booking costs about £113 at the moment for the tunnel for that weekend.
