All,

I tried to get Michelin Pilot Sports for my ZR1, and could only get them for the front from my local supplier... I weighed up the pros and cons, and decided to rear it with GSCs... just under a grand spent before Xmas but better grip than the ancient Eagles that were on it before...

So, I had a day off on Monday, and rigged up my videocamera for some footage...

Following links are self-explanatary, showing accelerations in a 100% stock 1991 ZR1 on street tyres, in the cold (3degC) ...

I like the clips anyway... and, for my sins , any dodgy gear shifts are blamed on the camera and tripod rig being in the way...

Steve

Cliff: thanks for the info on the 315s... the tyres on there were pretty ancient, and I just wanted to get going without delays... will bear in mind the offer when (and soon!) I'll need new 'uns

Geoff: you're right, the ZR1 even at 12 (soon to be 13 in my one's case!) is still pretty amazing... such fun in "real-life": real roads, real conditions, real drivers...

Steve - Great vids, thanks for posting, heart rate is way up now.

Cliff - Do you know if Micheldever are Goodyear dealers? One of my buds here is MD of Goodyear Russia and can get me a great deal.

ya mean some thing like those slow 360's right Geoff ?

I didn't realise how loud my car is inside until I watched those vids.

JT, I have a copy of your Le Mans burn out now and also a copy of Geoff taking the s/charged C4 for a spin. Works really busy at the moment but I am going to try and get everything online for Christmas.

I will have another look at the video of me with the Lambo, the camera wasn't fixed so most of it isn't watchable until we slow down a bit. All poor kerensa could film was sun visor, glove box, sun visor, glove box ....etc That was the quickest I've been in my car (170 and 3 lanes all to our selves for a few mile) and it was also the only car I've played with (non-Corvette) that was quicker, though not as quick as I thought it was going to be Joe or Cliff's car would have been quicker, I am sure.

see some of you on Saturday

Whoa there... you got a copy of the burn (or burns)?
You don't know how long I've been waitin' for that clip.
Fan-FKING-tastic.
Brett, can't wait to see those clips, which scharged C4 was GJ in, the ragtop?
Understand work's busy, I've waited this long, a little longer won't make that big of a deal. Well done in any case and thanks.

I hope he gave it a good spankin'.

It sounds like you're building an impressive inventory of film footage there, good job.
Can't thank you enough Brett.
BTW, where did you source the footage of my LM burn from?

Yes, that's what I thought.

So the question remains, whose was the supercharged C4 that GJ was giving it to???
What colour was it???

Brett - didn't know you ran with a Lambo. I'm assuming it was a Diablo. Looking forward to seeing that footage too.

No Nige the C4 footage was on another tape Richard gave me and was shot in the UK.

Your burn was from Richard and was filmed from 2 cars infront. Not ideal but you can see enough to work out what was going on.

No, the Lambo was the newer one. The footage is crap. I edited it last night. I didn't realise that the sun was really low in the sky and we were driving at it. By the time I edited out the glare and the glove box, sunvisor scenes, I was left with about a minute of footage shot when the road went back to 2 lanes and into heavier traffic just before I turned off. I'll post it anyway as it was back when I had stock exhausts which did sound quite good.

Nige, how good was the video camera mount in your C4 ? Did the picture jump about quite a bit or was it viewable ?

Oh HORSEFEATHERS that's right!!!!!!!

There is footage taken from the car that was immediately behind me. I just forgot, it wasn't Richard, it was taken by "Petaytas Alan's" mate from Alan's car.
Now, that's the footage I'm after.
Here I go again.

Hi Brett,

The footage taken in 2001 from Le Mans was done by hand by Brian Arnold, in 2002 it was done from the camera mount. The mounted stuff from other events was good as long as the camera was pointing forward. For the rear facing stuff the stupid thing focused on the lines of the heated rear window!

Got loads of footage going up to Cliffy's drag stag do last year. Some great clips of Cliffy and Joe accelerating past my LT4 on the A34 and then the M40. The sound is just fantastic. I will try and dig out the tapes and if you want them you can have them to try and do something with them.
