Just been in town this afternoon and was glancing along the magazine racks in Smith's. I noticed the pics on the front of the Top Gear magazine. I was ready for a slating of the C6 but was pleasantly surprised by the reporter actually admiting that the Corvette (C5 and even better the C6) actually does handle and GO. He did knock the C5 with what we know are its weaker points but enthused about the C6. Also, I seem to remeber talk of 'is there or isn't there a G meter' Well acccording to this report, there is along with a much improved HUD which includes more instrumentation available. A thumbs up from Top Gear? It must be a good car!

There's still time...

They're basing this on Bob Lutz's over-zealous claim that it will be better than anything in Europe. Let's hope so or he will have so much pie on his face. And they'll still slag the LHD if it isn't RHD by the time it gets here.

Top Gear? What do they know? And to prove that, send them the base C6 (Carerra C4 competitor), C6 Z06 (GT2/F360 competitor), and if it ever goes into production, the Blue Devil (which is a competitor for the GT3 and Challenge Stradale), then we will see who is laughing at who. They make such a fuss about non-German cars like the SV beating the German counterparts, well they should look at the new American cars for that. I don't see Jap cars doing that, and non-German European cars have done that apart from UK cars,(TVR = debatable, Invicta and Farboud have potential).

Wayne, GM have got themselves backed into a corner with their promises and statements, but they have everything to deliver - the expertise, the money, they've had the time, they've got what they need. They've now got a good handling car, decent powerplant, lightweight (and I don't think the C6 Z06 has an aluminium frame), so, unlike the NSX, and Honda had a lot of resources, the car will deliver. Yet Honda say that there will be no rivals for the HSC, yet the HP stated is 350, and this car is competitng with 500bhp cars.
