Anyone know the postcode for Geoff's place?

I suppose I ought to be thinking of directions.

Anyone else traveling from the Midlands??

Sorry I didn't make it, my flight got in at 7:30 am this morning and I was cream crackered, I tripped and fell on the bed. When I woke up it was 2:30 pm.

What did I miss?

Some very nice food courtesy of Mrs J (thank you) some interesting dyno runs, a very happy Malc and a lot of chat. Oh and some rain - bugger, got to clean the car now.

Yes, good day for vette heads once again & a good laugh as always.

Geoff converted my car's figures to about 350 RWHP and 500 Ft/Lbs Rear wheel torque at 3550 RPM. Still had another 750 RPM or so to go before max power but detonation due to heat ruled that out (shame).

Cars looked good, especially Cliff's (bit quiet Cliff, what about a louder exhaust?) and Jason's. Got a bit worried about me lusting after a Z06...

Any more boxes from Nige and Geoff would have needed a larger workshop!

Good drive home, Brett that wasn't a speed camera we flew past near Oxford was it?(gulp)[ - after the traffic lights where we almost drew level before the lights changed there was something grey pointing at the road in the central reservation though it didn't flash.]

No beeps from either detector so I think were ok. There were a couple of red light cameras, sure it wasn't one of those ?

Thanks Jeals! I can think of few better ways of spending a wet bank holiday weekend than seeing some Vettes. My car still works after its ordeal tied down and flogged on the Dyno. Tomorrow I have another new opportunity - washing tyre rubber off the bodywork. Smokin! Shame we didn't manage to get a complete run though to give some definitive stock C5 figures.
Thanks also for lunch.

Disappointed with the Z06 rear wheel HP, but the torque was good. Atleast we know the starting point before the rebuild.

Thanks to Geoff, Dan and Leslie for a good day out.

Nigel, what was your rear wheel HP? Should be 330 - 340 BHP by my reckoning (405 minus 18% driveline loss).

What about Cliff and Jason's cars, any dyno results?

As power is a function of torque surely your power should have been good too. If the torque curve was dropping off too quickly at high RPM maybe the wheels were slipping slightly on the dyno ?

... or it was knock retard caused by that cheap Tesco petrol you were using !!

Te51cle - you need to get your car on Jeal's vette-thrasher so that we know the stock C5 facts. There was mucho tyre smoke round my car when the granny tranny kicked down so a manual is needed to get a reliable result, accepting that there are some differences of tune between the two.
Malc's car showed output figures to shame most racers!

Cheers Steve, I don't know that it was that good but it was better than expected, torque probably about on target, although the torque curve was very different than Callaway claim (Callaway claim peak torque at 2500 RPM though on my car at 3550 RPM it was still rising) and BHP actually better than Callaway's claim.

Interesting too that there's quite a bit more HP loss on the C4 6-speed than the C5 Z06. No doubt a single mass aluminium flywheel would help rear wheel HP.

Nice one, Wayne.

Is there some sort of time warp in the Midlands as I was at Geoff's on Saturday!!!!

Superb Wayne, didn't realise you took all those pics.

Good bit of press for the old Callaway too. That'll help if I decide to out it!

All these threats, one day I will...
