Very nice ride, minor things to improve, I take off my hat for You. I enjoyed this lap very much and will come back to this one for my lines to improve.

Thanks for the kind words. It's only just under 08:00 BTG. My target is 07:45 which I think is achievable. To be honest, there's probably a good 30 secs in the car but not with me behind the wheel!!

Looks like you had fun. 7.45 very achievable in right conditions, traffic is the main problem I find. areas to work on are short shifting, speed through corners and lifting on 6th gear sections. Putting your rear view one back on May help too, you will see cars in your peripheral vision, you seem to be quite distracted. If it was a TF day I can completely understand.

We had a 620r spec car out there last august running low 7 minute mark, stunning place for a caterham. would love to run a big power CSR round there.

Was it a trackday, if so who?

Cheers j

Thanks for the constructive criticism. Agree with all your comments. Short shifting/lifting on 6th gear sections all come under 'mechanical sympathy'. I'm still finding my way with the car and the track so have been working on lines and getting speed in other areas before crucifying the engine. There are 3 places on the track (Dottingerhohe, Foxhole and approach to Schwedenkreuz) where you could have it bouncing off the limiter in 6th.

7 minute mark is insane. Would love to see some videos of that if you have any.

Indeed it was a track day, hence why I was distracted by the rear view mirrors - there were some race cars out that would appear out of nowhere, especially on the faster sections where I was not pushing.

It was organised by Trackdays.de. A German organiser but cater for Brits with briefing in English etc... I'm back out there in early August with them again and also have one booked with a Belgian track day company called Skylimit Events. Would be great to see some other Caterhams out there.

Cheers

Some videos from Knockhill....the third one is fairly enjoyable (if not quick)....still getting used to the car, will need to do something with the suspension as its way too soft for me and understeer is a big issue

Great stuff! A 57 sec lap is pretty good for a first outing! You've similar power to me so no reason why you can't take a couple of seconds off that once you settle down with the car.thumbup Love the camera set-up!

You're a bit tentative heel-and-toeing on downshifts. You're blipping the throttle but then letting the revs die before engaging the next gear down.

yes, trying to adjust the pedals - my foot can't quite reach the accelerator while braking so its all over the place as it messes with my rhythm.....for sporty cars caterham have a lot to answer for it pedal setup

Blimey, my Caterham is perfect for Heel & Toe. Have you had the pedal box cover off the investigate?

not had it off, but have had a look down the tunnel - the brake and accelerator are way too far apart, without some comically big shoe there's no way you could heel/toe properly with that....I was trying to get used to it but just physically can't, so some metal bending is required. That as well as the clutch bites way too high in the pedal, causing me to mis-time the release of the clutch.....but this may be me getting used to it and no adjustment needed once I sort the brake/accelerator issue. I've never seen a Caterham or any other kit car which has a good pedal setup, whereas jump into a Porsche and the pedals have been set and spaced perfectly out the box.

Great video, love the view backwards over the line with the sun going down. Very artistic!

What set up were you filming with?

Its just a couple of gopros, edited together using powerdirector 12 - you basically line up the videos and click play, then "direct" in real-time by clicking on the cameras....very easy to do

I then stick the overlays on with Dashware, data is from a Racelogic Performancebox....

Thats great, thanks. I've always thought that would be a good idea but didn't know where to find such software. I assume you cannot do it on Vegas or iMovie?!

Cheers.

PS: If your ever in the south and fancy a ride around Snetterton then let me know.

Must admit mine isnt setup well for that but I am still learning the car. Reaching a stage with me changing tyre compound size I need to look at: ride height adjustment/camber adjustment/pedal setup (would be impossible to heal/toe atm)/brake setup(think it needs a bit more play) etc... basically look at it as an entity. Nice video of knockhill too!
