Great posts whether you have had the 7 for five minutes or 5 decades. Great to see everyone sharing their love. It's a good comunity we have going here. Recently had my car service by Boss Racing, one blat in the hills where I live before returning to work, can't wait to open her up again. Keep it up.

Got my first Caterham - a Supersport - earlier this year, aged 38. Ive wanted one since I borrowed a friends R300 a few years back.

Plan on going to Le Mans in it next year and hopefully never selling

Wanted a 7 for as long as I can remember (since 'The prisoner' was first broadcast). Other itches needed to be scratched first though, so I was 47 when I bought my first 7 (R400) 18 months ago. I usually sell cars when I get bored with their performance, hence I plan on keeping this one indefinately smile

First 7 at 23. Now 34 and on my second (continuous 7 driver for the last 10 years) and unlikely to ever sell my current car. Have added to the stable with an Elise to keep it company - they are blood brothers!

Keep it stiff

Given that the original question was "what is the average age" is someone going to add up the various responses and divide by the number of submissions to provide the answer!

I am 20 and am going to look at my first 7 tomorrow! Even though it will be a track toy until I am 21 in july and insurance is reasonable!

I'm also 21 and would be intersted to hear where and how much you'll likely be paying for insurance.

I commute on a cheap motorbike and don't need anything practical, so Caterham is the obvious answer for a car when the funds allow.

When I am 21 I will be paying about £1000! Which for a group 20 car I didn't think was too bad! I pay more than that on my mx5!

Bit of a thread resurrection to confuse those age figures..... biggrin

On my third Caterham - a '95 clamshell 1700 Supersprint - at age 51. Owned it for just on eleven years now. First Caterham bought aged 27 (a 1.4K Supersport).

Fantastic cars....

Doesn't matter how old you really are ... all Caterham owners end up grinning from ear to ear and experiencing the unadulterated excitement of being 10 years old once again!

For the record though, bought my first R400 when I was 32 (to replace a TVR Chimaera 500) and am now on my second at the age of 44 ...
