Lotus 7 Club - is it worth it?
Discussion
Yes,you are probably right about the name, and the focus of the Club. When I was a member I found the Club very helpful, particularly for technical matters, and overall thought it worthwhile, but with scope for improvment (or perhaps I mean scope to better meet my preferences).
The Limited Co was formed to limit liability, and I guess that was sensible, but (as it was a company limited by guarentee, and therefore no shareholders) it would have been easy to include all existing and future members in the company, and not just the few who were in control. As someone else has said, the club seems to exist for the benefit of the club.

You used to be able to PM forum posters even if you weren't a member yourself. Can you still do this? I tried clicking one of the posters names, but nothing loaded up. Working from a phone though, so maybe it might work from a PC?
It isn't what it used to be. Imo it's a shadow of its former self. The overall wensite is far better but the forum which was the heart and soul is now next to useless compared to what it was. Edited by Smollet on Thursday 25th December 17:27

Possible worth a look for those with like-minded interests.

Talking to a guy last month with an Elise.... Said he wanted a Caterham but the club was rubbish and the club for him was an important part of car ownership....
Poor reflection on the club that somone thinks it's that bad....
Pretty poor reflection on him if he chooses a car by how good its online members club is. Poor reflection on the club that somone thinks it's that bad....

Tell him to join the Honda Jazz owners club! They're really nice people and will go out of their way to be friendly whilst driving, often diving close enough and slow enough in convoy that they can have a good natter!
Not like those rude Caterham rotters!
Are you still a member of the rotters club Chris? Haven't seen you there for a while or are you spending all your time at the Jazz club by the bar? Not like those rude Caterham rotters!

That's about as credible as your previous tale about a Caterham owner taking umbrage at the suggestion their car was a 'kit car'...Load of car and bike guys getting together, who would have thought they discussed things like cars, clubs, driving...
I agreed with him... was a great club, now its not, and it seems like many on here agree with that.
Still a member Smollet though will probably let it lapse when up for renewal, just don't use blatchat these days for two reasons:
1. The new forum, though I won't dwell on that...
2. There are few if any 'characters' left there these days, most being hounded out, so your left with a 'sea of loveliness' as someone once said, with no fun banter to be had It's just not the kind of internet pub I'd bother calling in for a pint and a chat any more. Shame as it used to be my regular Friday night haunt when the sprogs were younger and we were house bound!
The Face Bum forum is much more lively...

Pretty much echoes my sentiments. 1. The new forum, though I won't dwell on that...

So what would need to happen for the ex members on here to join up again?
What would make you pick up the phone and renew?
Great question Kenny! Let's take this thread in a more constructive direction. What would it take to get any ex-members reading this to join up again? What would make you pick up the phone and renew?
