K-Series 1.8k states of tune??

how do you get a k series up to 230 bhp?

Big valve VHPD or VVC head with proper porting, 2180/1444 cams, throttle bodies, ECU, decent 4-2-1 exhaust , forged Pistons, modified rods , lightweight flywheel.

That's interesting, mine is that spec (VHPD throttle bodies, Emerald, 1444 cams, 11.4:1 comp ratio) and it peaks at around 200bhp at 7000 rpm, is it just revs / tune to get to 230?

It isn't the same spec. A 2180 inlet cam will give more, besides 200BHP on 1444s with a big valve VHPD head seems very low to me, the best I have seen from that spec. With just 1444s is 241. I would expect over 200 with BP285H and standard sized valves in a VHPD head.

There's an example of Dave's work in the For Sale's at the moment which made over 200bhp on BH285H's in one of his ported heads.
