thumbup: Good work Steve - welcome to the club (what took you so long? wink).

I see that you've gone for the fastest colour, and abandoned your love of the Laz-y-Boy recliner - looks a great specification. hehe

Thanks for the club welcome Jeremy!

My love of the Laz-y-boy recliner as you so put it is due to the fact that's what seats the car came with! They worked, I didn't track the car too much and to replace them with official Recaro's would have meant my kids not eating until they got themselves jobs...I did in my defence your honour, ahem, put a Sparco in that still resides in the back of the garage. Getting in and out though was a challenge as it had much higher sides than the Recaro's (great support though) but there was a world of difference in feel between that and the Sports seats. These Tillet's are fab, supportive and comfortable. I'm very happy with the spec. and the colour choice. smile

edit: How are you liking the Lambo?

It's fabulous - living up to all my expectations. biggrin

And more on topic, has exactly the same power-to-weight ratio as my SuperlightR. driving

Excellent news! Mine idles around 1000 rpm but I also have the close-to-stalling-when-cold situation. Within about 20 secs of first start, once the car comes off it's initial cold start phase (i.e. Cat warm up), I have to heel & toe when braking to keep the revs up. This is only for a mile or so, by which point it's okay, however even then, letting the revs die from higher rpm (think putting the clutch in at 3000 rpm) will cause the engine to get close to the point of stalling.

Either way, it's good heel & toe practice for you!

And as for the Half Hood, it's really very good. A worthy investment thumbup

Looks brilliant! Mine idles around the 1100rpm mark as far as I can remember. Keeping under 6k should be fine, but you'll be wanting to use that last 1000rpm when you find some nice tight hairpins! smile

Indeed! smile

I tend to aim for 7k as my change as otherwise I find myself making machine gun noises on the limiter wink

Both equally fun. biggrin They're quite different cars; you wouldn't want to be driving to Monaco in the Caterham, whilst a blast down narrow country lanes is probably not as much fun in the Lambo.

Whilst preferring to drive with the half hood in heavy rain, if using the full hood it helps to partially unzip the back window for ventilation and reduce steaming up. Don't think the fan will do any good unless you are cold.

Must confess, I've not seen any zips in my full hood? I guess I could leave some of the press studs open?

Puts the rev limit at 7200rpm? Was told it was "about" 7500rpm?

I deliberately let the car idle last night without revving it and the hunting is intermittent, sometimes quite happy at 1200 other times, audibly hunting and there's a slight hesitancy in the throttle when blipping from idle. I'm hoping that when the car goes in for it's 1k that a slight adjustment to the TPS will sort this out. Hoping to put some miles under it's belt tonight on my own if the weather keeps nice as I think this weekend is a washout.

Agree on the heel and toe practice, I've not really used the brakes that much but deliberately got some heat into them yesterday and the pedal is very reassuring and appears when braking hard to be at the right point to properly heel and toe.

Did I tell you how much in love I am with this car so far? cloud9

It's definitely 7200 on mine. At a trackday a couple of weeks back I was constantly hitting the limiter in 2nd after an awkward hairpin exit that meant I was never really quite ready for the gear change to 3rd. Got my act together in the end smile

A few more revs would be nice but peak power comes in at 6750rpm anyway so other than the fantastic noise there's not much point revving it any further.

There's a zip round the back window, if you open it to just across the top a little, the top left corner will sit open allowing the moist air in the cabin to get out. It also helps to open the rear window when fitting the hood to gain access to the straps, the only time you'd zip it up fully is when leaving the car.

As far as noise is concerned I must say that the trackday exhaust on mine is on the right side of noisy, certainly at this moment in time I don't feel the need for a peashooter. smile

The more miles you put on the better it'll sound too.

Just got past 18k on mine and it's definitely popping and spluttering more than it used to (In a good way! Not in a malfunctioning way!). (got it on 11k).

Caterham haven't supplied full hoods with zip-out back window for a couple of years now. The back window is fixed, with no zip. I guess it's cost cutting.

If that's the case it just goes to show how few people at Caterham ever actually use the cars other than for a run to Tescos. Without the ventilation provided by the rear window there are serious questions over safety and usability in wet conditions, Caterham really are losing the plot. At the first opportunity I'd order a half hood from Oxted or Soft Bits.

Bit late to the party here but congrats on your new toy. Looks lovely

Caterham are a funny lot .... you pay thousands and thousands of pounds and get a car that doesn`t quite work properly ! Yet, we as owners and buyers put up with it and treat it like TADTS !! Imagine walking into a Porsche dealer and putting £30k across the counter and the salesman says , "oh , by the way , the electric window doesnt work and neither does the heater" .... you`d be furious !!!

Not had mine long either so I`m still learning all about the perky little car. Observations so far are

Full hood is superb - with practice takes minutes if less to put up. I have no zip in the rear window as has been mentioned but mine does not steam up. Half hood for me would interfere with getting in and out the thing - I`m rather tall !
The car demands many "little 2 minute jobs" - like tightening a stud - calibrating the speedo - oil level check - touch up where the doors rub the bodywork etc etc - it keeps me entertained
People are very courteous to you out on the road - a huge noticeable difference from the GT3
You feel particularly vulnerable parked next to an HGV in traffic looking at his wheelnuts !
Again , having come from a GT3 - everything is so cheap

What plans do you have for the car ? Euro trip , trackdays ????
