I have a query about the brake master cylinder in my 7. The car is a 1985 S3 Super Sprint Kit. I have had to repost this due to complete rewording!!

The brake master cylinder is a Lockheed one with the wedge shaped fluid reservoirs
  • similar* to (but not the same as) the attached picture.

Q1. It only has one spring inside (the innermost one) whereas all pictures I
can see of it on the net show two springs as you would expect - one to help return each piston. Has anyone else
found that they only had one spring? That is, is this normal for this car?

Q2. As I expect to be told that there should be two springs, does anyone know where I can buy just the spring?

Thanks, James.

Speak to Redline Components. 01883 346515. They will know if there are any one spring versions too!

I have a 1981 Caterham Super 7.I'm also rebuilding the Brake Master Cylinder. When I took it apart,it was also missing the first spring. It's the Lockheed Tandem Circuit type with the wedge style reservoir. Do you know what the correct rebuild kit is for it?
