Exhaust heatshield required for MOT?

The heatshield on my 1600 K Caterham decided to make a bid for freedom during a sprint event last year, and due to the added weight I didn't bother to get it reattached at the time. It's now MOT time and I'm wondering if I actually need to get it put back on, as I've seen a few cars without them.

Is this required for an MOT, and if so how can it be reattached given the brackets have all detached from the exhaust itself?

Thanks!

Mine doesn't have one but the cat does. To be honest, it's only going to get as hot as the exhaust anyway so I don't think it's that much use!

Mine passed the cat test without a cat. Heatshields are not an MOT requirement.

Also, since it's outside the floor plan/foot print of the vehicle the exhaust doesn't even have to seal. As long as it doesn't fill the MOT test bay with smoke/too much noise/the wrong emissions, that's all they can test for.
