So yesterday I finally got around to going out for a run with my Aeroscreen. Once I'd sorted out the fact I couldn't see over the damn thing - something a cushion greatly helped with - then a quick 10 min blat turned into a 40 miler.

It really is a different world! Acceleration is greater and the car just seems to flow so much better. It won't be often I have the screen back on (hopefully paperbag)

Fantastic stuff smile

Still dying to aeroscreen mine. I think I'll need a perspex one though as like you I think I'll struggle to see over it!

Yes I'm going to get a clear screen (and sell my RiF carbon one).

I'm also a shortie and have tillets AND lowered floors. When I first took the car out yesterday I only did a mile and turned around due to not being able to see over the screen (eek). Once home I dug out a cushion which was much better. I was concerned about hitting insects and what not, but over 40 miles I had no such issues.

@Framerate - it really adds another dimension. At UK motorway speeds, you can really feel the difference not just in acceleration but also in how little throttle (comparatively) is required to maintain speed.

Yeah I'm 5'8" with lowered floors and leather seats but I think seeing over will be a struggle for me.

Can't wait. It'll be a winter job for me. I need to touch up some chips and surface rust on the chassis, once that's done; aeroscreen and perhaps new harnesses are my next job smile

Did you use a helmet?

I've been Aero (Brooklands) for years, and can't remember the last time I put the screen on (only when a planned trip is in winter rain/snow).

See: http://www.7-dna.com/forums/index.php?action=vthre...

Aero really is the only way to go!

Nope, no helmet. Just a pair of Oakleys.

To be honest I felt very protected nestled behind the screen!

Great stuff, you've got me wanting to fit one sooner now... smile

Did you feel that you'd get any advantage from some half doors? I've been thinking of getting some for a while since I do trackdays with wind deflectors and no doors.

To be honest I'd had the same thought but can't really see what they'd do. Perhaps a touch less buffeting, but it would be marginal (nothing like the difference between screen on / no doors verses Aeroscreen).

I like my half doors. They do reduce wind buffeting and also greatly reduce any spray from rain if you happen to get caught out. I believe they bring a small aero benefit too.

I have the interchangeable aero package. Generally I'll drive to the track with windscreen and then do a quick swap to aero and half doors. Total mod time about 15 mins. Makes a massive difference on track and well worth the effort on a good weather day. For road use I always leave the screen on. If wearing aero I'll always wear a helmet. I've had to replace 4 windscreens to date due to stone damage. Personally I'd rather a screen or helmet took the force of flying rocks rather than my face...!

Captive bolts for the windscreen so you can easily switch back and fore between the aero and screen instead of having to remove the knee guards every time.

That was one of the first jobs I did on my Supersport - remove the knee guards.

Pointless panels.

Yep, mine weren't replaced after they were first removed.

I took my S4 to the track and did about 20 laps with the windscreen, and then 20 more laps with brooklands.
I had no doors on.

I was really surprised by how much the Brooklands actually deflected the wind.
I could not feel any difference on top speed or accel, but I was driving flat out and hanging on for dear life...

I will go Brooklands for short trips when I don't need hood and doors.
