my starter on my 1.6 Powerlite RAC 430 Starter Motor Fitting
Discussion
So, the starter motor on my 1.6 Roadsport is mullered (solenoid fails to fire when fed directly from a battery) and I've got a Powerlite RAC 430 coming on Wednesday from the cracking guys at Fernhurst Motor Company.
Has anyone fitted one of these? Is there any modification required or is it a direct fit? The reason I ask is that my exsisting SM has the spade connection for the solenoid trigger and a large threaded connection for the power however, there seems to be a third wire running to the front of the car (I've not traced it properly yet) but the Powerlite unit only has the spade and the main feed connections on it?
Is the third wire on my original starter simply an earth?

There are more wires to my starter. The one that goes forwards attaches to the alternator.

I've just come out the garage having traced it and you're quite right, it goes to the alternator. This thread on Blatchat may help texthttp://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=231796
Should be a fairly simple swap over job...........
