Hi,

I've just bought a 2004 Caterham 1.8 K Series and the vendor tells me it needs a new battery. I said I'd buy one and bring it up with me to fit when we pick the car up, but I want to make sure I buy the right one.

Could someone please tell me which battery I need for my car?

Thanks,

Dan

Thanks, after some Googling I found out the same info thumbup

I have a trade account with Shield batteries who do the 53034 fitment and they're going to come back to me with availability. Otherwise I'll buy the Banner.

Last battery I bought was from tayna batteries. It was the banner and was a good price with a further discount through facebook.

Shouldn't have cost you any more than £70 though right?

Remember to let it sit for an hour or two before you fit it.

It was £60. Cheap enough. I could have got a similar one through work for £30, but it was slightly less CCA. Thought it best to get the right one.

I am going to pick the car up on Friday, so it will sit for a few days before it's fitted

I'm sure you either know already or may have seen the thread I started regarding servicing in the South West but Vincent Haydon is near you in Hampshire. I spoke to him this morning and he seems like a top bloke with bags of Caterham and Lotus experience.

He's having my car for a major service in September and I imagine he'll be pretty convenient for you - his prices are very reasonable too.

Shame you're not getting your car until Friday, it's the Dorset region club meet tonight, I'm going for the first time, it would have been a good run for you!

Thanks for your message. I hadn't heard of him (which is odd since I work in Lymington and have had Lotus' in the past!).

Could you send me a link to the club please?

www.lotussevenclub.com - they seem to have plenty going on and, from what I've experienced so far, a helpful and friendly bunch.

Good to see another Caterham in the South East section. Would be interested in your view in compression to the VX. My father has a VX Turbo, so I often drive both cars about.

On my 7 I dropped the Banner after dropping a spanner over the points, it seemed to bugger it. A lot of people go for a mobility/ golf cart battery to save weight.

Due to no real auxiliaries on the 7, these are easily run off one. Have been for years.

Hmm, ok, maybe I should have gone for the smaller £30 one then! Oh well.

I'll do a comparison. I've long since sold my VX220, but my brother and dad both have VX220 Turbos which I sometimes drive.

The Caterham is the starting point for my new business venture... http://www.newforestsportscarhire.co.uk/

Ahh well if it's not going to be you driving it all of the time, best leave a bigger battery in then. Will take lights being left on or similar better.
