I know one of them because an old school mate of mine has also signed up! We are not remotely competitive so everything should be fine.....
Did someone mention my name ;-)

Exciting times SimonSh!

I've taken the factory built route as, like Bob said, I'm not sure I'd have the time to get it done! Talking to Al Calvert who won this year's Group 1 Academy championship. he built his own but reckoned that he wouldn't do it again.

He said that by the time he'd invested in tools, equipment etc and then paid Caterham to check it over and put right his mistakes he didn't actually save that much.

Still, there must be a huge sense of satisfation in building your own.

I did the Silverstone Caterham experience in July so have had half a day in a seven on track so far. Like it so much I'm going back again next Friday ;-)

Mine and Bob's cars should be with us around Christmas...................can't wait!

Does the 'no race licence' rule include motorcycle race licences?
Finally got confirmation that motorcycle race licences are not taken into account when applying. So anyone with previous motocycle race experience can enter the academy.

I'm planning for 2016 along with my brother.

Never crossed my mind to check whether having had a bike race licence would count against me before I ordered my car for next year's academy! Sales guy Doug, at Ceterham Midlands, never mentioned it even though we had a conversation about my previous supermoto racing exploits.

Confirmation today that my car is due for IVA on 5th December...............should be ready for collection at the Academy Seminar on 13th December. Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! Haha new shiny toys are always nice to have.

My brother and I are almost certainly booking a place for 2016. I've started collecting the necessary bits and pieces already. Even this bit is quite exciting.
