Ive been looking at the prices of second hand caterhams and also what I would actually use the car for. Im living over in cologne in germany and luckily the nurburgring is an hour away. I use the tram everyday for work and have my civic for any other use. The caterham will be for a fun sunday drive and trackday use only.

Just wondering how user friendly it is buying an ex racer and what to look for with respects to them compared to the road cars, of course if anyone has one for sale please PM me smile

As you live in Germany you'd need to register it there as well, and that could turn out to be quite an ordeal (I live in Germany too). Not everything which is considered road legal in the UK is accepted by the German TÜV. Personally, I would feel extremely uncomfortable in a RHD Seven in Germany, but it does appear OK to many. If you persist in importing the car from the UK you might want to consider paying one of the German Caterham dealers to help you. I know that Caterham Cars Kempten does this and they're a great bunch (my Seven is serviced there; have no experience with the other two dealers in Germany).

i know a couple of the local dealers and racers and one of them has got a few caterhams through the TUV test with no major issues. I was looking at an ex academy racer last weekend and thats what got me thinking more about them, Ive used k series engines in a couple of mini conversions and found them to be a great engine.
Going to get in touch with caterham in the uk as they have a gulf coloured one in stock so may have a look when im back in the uk next week smile
