Is it about to get busy on here? Blatchat to close...
Discussion
It's a very posh kit car. Some are even built in a factory making them even posher.
As regards the new forum I think it's not befitting such a posh kit car in fact it would be better suited to a locost forum but I've seen their forums and they're a darn sight better than the new one imposed on the L7C . BC had issues it was still very posh

I don't think the forum of blatchat has been popular with the management team for several years, the dropping of the name "blatchat" (which I see as a big indicator of the priorities and a gauge of what was required as an outcome) and the creation of a lesser "forum" in addition to a main site (and not the other way round) could possibly be seen as a driving force of the project.
I suspect the team wished for a smarter home page and a subscription payments section all linked to one log in with membership verification, and further closure of blatchat from public viewing and then downgrading of the "forum", so as to try and make it less of an attraction and perceived centrepiece of the club.
Trouble is its all a bit wonky and even the drupal providers state that drupal forums are a bit crap, so I guess the proper death of blatchat has been delivered and members will have to resort to writing into the editors letters page and reading low flying
Its a shame after all the hardwork and expense that has gone into it and I hope its all resolved with out further expense and the loss of members, but the club does have a new homepage .
Dave why do i have a gut feeling you may be bang on the money? Funny as my phone has been ringing with other concerned blat chatters who have seen your post and also think you are right.
It will be a shame, but something tells me the course is set and there is no going back for blat chat as we know it.
All i do know after Penn7's meet on saturday, is the new forum is not very popular to say the least.
In my opinion this forum could go with a bit of Policing - how many times have people posted just to be shot down or had a smart arse rude comment posted in response!?
There are some utter dheads that post on here and I suspect, wouldn't dare to say what they do to someone's face!
Censorship (if that's what you want to call it) might not always be a bad thing.
Blatchat (and the new forum) is a bit more gentlemanly, you won't get a full on exodus to PH, it's a different kettle of fish and not to everyone's liking.

I am quite appalled by the new forum, assuming it cost what was rumoured, it's crap. My girlfriends nursery class good design something better!
I have never used the main 7 club site, how many people do?, only blatchat. Perhaps we have to question club funds, what do you get for your £45.50? Subsidised track days and events err....no
I have been a club member for 22 years, having owned a 7 (kit built) for 21 of those and have no intention now of renewing my membership. Okay I do own an Elise now, so no more arguments about it's parentage
If you don't like the new club, vote with your feet.

Blatchat forum was great - simple, well laid out, reliable and fast.
Why they have changed it I have no idea - but it is pants. The 'click' of Blatchat are defending the management team but it is a pretty shoddy for a service that i pay for. My membership is up so i guess its PH's for me.
Shame.

Just had another look on the new site and cannot see any sign of the Tech Talk section.....I am totally Donald Ducked without the many car saving posts.....even if it was there I cant see any way of searching it from the other sections.
My car will probably be broken forever in the garage by the end of the month!

It seems that it's hidden unless you're a signed up member. If you do have a membership the site has probably lost your pin (it happened to me too).My car will probably be broken forever in the garage by the end of the month!

We've been discussing this earlier today and feel Tech Talk encouraged new members..
Well I know four locals who won't be renewing their membership unless things improve. As others have said the main site was hardly used but Blatchat was extremely popular by both owners and non owners.

I don't agree restricting what non members can view, but surely Chitchat is what you would restrict Not a Tech Talk
IT changes often cause debate among users, but this release needs far to many changes to be currently acceptable.
Let's hope it gets sorted soon for the benefit of both members and non members.

I'm a member, I'm logged in, but no tech talk, I have made over 3500 responses to tech questions there, but I cannot find tech talk on the new forum, it is still there under the old Blatchat login , but not in the new forums that I can see..
Ah well I suppose they can do without my witterings.

Not having access to the years of wisdom and input from people such as Dave is what really worries me and will be a big loss if not easy to search....in my mind keeping the cars going outweighs chatting about all the other stuff many times over.Ah well I suppose they can do without my witterings.
