Do you mean attached to the side screens or on the screen supports.

If you mean on the side screens, a chap on Blatchat fitted convex Lucas style mirrors to the standard door mirror mounts.

10th item down on this page.

I bought a pair of those and folded some stainless sheet to make mounts that fit on the sidescreens:

They give a much better field of view than the standard ones, but do have a classic look that some might not like.

You can fit mirrors to the windscreen stanchions that utilise one of the 3 screws each side that hold the screen in - here is a selection https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/s/search:mirror...

The problem with these is that they restrict the door opening though.

Did the fixing/thread need tampering with in any way?

This photo shows the type I chose, the Spa ones - I used 1 windscreen fixing screw and drilled a second hole as well.

The Racetech type has a single fixing and they require an adapter from demon tweeks that replaces one of the screen fixings I believe.

No. Just replaces the screw already there but use a washer/spacer to make sure it doesn't impact on the glass.
