The first time I met Arnie was my first visit to the North Kent meet at the Plough back in 2007. I had proudly parked my newly built caterham outside (reg K800 RUM)
This guy walks into the pub & anounces to everyone "Who owns the car with the stripe & are you copying my number plate?"

Enough said. rolleyes

No idea about the Romans, but Callum and the team were unfailingly helpful and informative as I was buying my 7 at the end of 2013. You could not hope to deal with better people. I have not read the whole random off thread ramblings here, I can only assume that mental illness, or thread confusion are rampant. Or maybe LSD is easier to obtain these days.

In any event. 7's and classics are good guys and I like my little Caterham. 'Nuff said.
Of course they were helpful , you are spending money and wanted to buy a car. They sell cars and want your business. What did you expect , really ??

True, but there are quite a few threads in the past of potential customers going to CC South for example and getting an indifferent reception, with little information and advice, and no apparent interest in dealing with you wink

I'm not yet seriously looking to change my seven (unless the right one comes along and jumps out at me cool) yet I've been to Sevens & Classics several times and found them very approachable and happy to help (they even did a pressure test on my 7 foc when I called in and it was losing coolant - and as a result we identified the leak).

So based on my several encounters so far I'd suggest they are good people to deal with.

If you look at my car history, I have had a lot of different cars and hence a lot of different buying experiences. You can get good and bad experiences at many levels of the market when buying. The team a 7s&c were at the level of enthusiasts rather than product sales.

They put lowered floors in, changed the seats, put on an FIA roll bar and a power source for the Tom tom. All in 4 days so that I could go to a goodwood meet.

When there was a slight issue with the car they picked it up from my drive way , sorted it and had it back with me within hours.

The difference between this along with their willingness to discuss/chat/ debate different models and options is well beyond customer service and is into enthusiast territory. It was the most fun buying experience I have had in 40 years of getting new cars for family or myself.

I hope that helps clarify and explain my positive comments. smile. Cheers.

I was going to mention that, and the apparent inconsistency with S&C, but thought I try to keep the thread positive wink

For me the sign of a good company is one that deals with warranty issues, damage of goods received or complaints in general in a swift manner with no fuss. As said why would a company not be helpful and friendly when selling you a car?

Caterham always seem very nonchalant to me when ever I have dealt with them but I have only bought parts from them and had a repair done once. Sevens and Classics seems to be doing things right, but so have other independents like Milwoods and competition does not seem that fierce in the Caterham car selling business.

probably 3rd time I met Arnie he fitted a Jenvey throttle body kit to my car which involved reconstructing the entire wiring loom from the bulkhead forward. It took 2 days

We all have different experiences of people

I am not anti club, but I feel it could be improved though (I could say the same about lots of things, myself included). However I have found the club to be a little lacking in financial info for some reason. And tend to be a bit blinkered in their way of doing things. The recent website changes is just an example of their lack of providing info and not liking to be asked for it. There seems to be a bit of a "it's my way or else" attitude.

Earlier Aves said "If it hadn't been for the efforts of the club officers and their instructed professionals Jack & Pippa would have carried on trading unhindered and they certainly wouldn't have been prevented from being company directors by the Dti."
This made me assume it was a financial thing. Did the above happen during a defamation action then? Is that normal?
What stopped the others who were owed 800k from doing this?
Earlier it was said the club were threatened with action. Was it a threat or did it go somewhere?

It may surprise you to hear that I am not an expert in this field biggrin
Shortened version - having shoved their defamation action back up their arse, it was made sure that the dti took matters seriously and investigated. Like a lot of these emanations of the state if you don't badger them and put them on the spot files go to sleep and miscreants get away with their wrong doing

I have to say that was a job very well done. I had bad (and expensive) experiences of A* so was pleased that they got stopped from doing it to others.

To be fair when I explained (to my shame) I had never heard of K2 RUM he showed me round the car & explained how it had evolved over the years.
That was interesting.

Not exactly true. What was said was far more sarcastic.

Arnie, first time you met me, I was still drunk as hell from the day and night before, and you made fantastically wrong assumptions about my then choice of career biggrin

When i was looking around for a 7, I was mainly looking at CC South and S&C, both have been good as gold to me, Callum was extremly helpful, once i found the 7 i wanted it was at CC South, i advised Callum and he sent me a kind email back, any help i needed to get in contact, I will definitely be visiting there again.

5* service from both.

My advice - buy a car and enjoy driving it. Ignore forums and most other owners - like pretty much every car on the road, the majority of owners are aholes.
