Discussion
Production has slowed with "factory knock backs" adding delays to customer deliveries.
The order book may be full but the kits / cars aren't coming out the factory.
Its all very well them selling plenty but the orders don't seem to be arriving, the F1 nightmare and its fall out seems to now be having an effect.

I think the comments made are probably correct.
I would be very surprised if CC are operating in the New Year the way things are going - no stock, reduced sales and production, it doesn't look good.
I'd hate to have a car on order at the moment - we all know what happens to a customers deposit when a company goes under!
I hope, I really hope, we're all wrong............time will tell.
I think you are talking down the situation (not to mention utterly derailing the thread :-)I would be very surprised if CC are operating in the New Year the way things are going - no stock, reduced sales and production, it doesn't look good.

Caterham is essential a good business so if the worst happened someone would buy it and continue. Its not the doom and gloom you make it out to be I think- companies change ownership all the time, sometimes for the worst but often for the better of customers.
Chin-up, its Christmas!
Its not really off topic is it?
The suggestion is that S&C is a better company at present, the discussion regarding the state of CC as a business is completely relevant.
If you were to look on BC now youd see a thread regarding a car sold on commission by Caterham South - the car sold weeks ago and the first the seller knew of it was when a DVLA notification dropped through his door.
He's still waiting for his money. Would that happen with S&C?
The situation is indicative of cash flow issues and therefore relevant to the thread.

Well, my R400 kit in Porsche Riviera Blue, 13" wheels and quite a few other extras was ordered in July, began to be built at the end of November and was delivered to me on Tuesday. Exactly on schedule. The order book may be full but the kits / cars aren't coming out the factory.

So far I have opened up all the boxes and apart from a few bits that I knew were short and are coming next week, everything is here and in fine shape.
I'm quite impressed with the documentation and the organisation of the kit. Some of the instructions could be more detailed but it's not that bad.
I haven't heard of anyone not getting a car on time, although I know lead times are still 6/7 months. My car was brought forward back in August, it was originally scheduled for the end of January, which seems to belie your suggestion that cars aren't coming out of the factory.
So far Caterham have been fine with me. Kept in touch, good response, I like the quality of the kit and they have already been in touch with me about planning its post build check and IVA test.
Don't seem to be a Company struggling to me.

Another load of bullst, very few on here actually know what's going on. Clearly
they have too much time on their hands. If you think production is down you know nothing!
And you're better informed are you!?they have too much time on their hands. If you think production is down you know nothing!
9 week delays on kits isn't good. You'd have to be a complete fool (?) To not see what's happening at CC.

Can you give an example?
Are you saying I've been lucky to get what I ordered when it was promised or has this trouble only recently developed?
As I understand it some customers have just been informed of the delays. Are you saying I've been lucky to get what I ordered when it was promised or has this trouble only recently developed?
I'm not saying your experience has been anything but good, but if you look at BC there is a thread titled "order delays
QUOTE -"Umm, cant say i'm too happy but this morning, I have had an email from caterham midlands stating that due to supply problems and shortages my order has been pushed back another 4 weeks to mid feb. Guess i'll have to be a bit more patient,... (I placed my order in may) Anyone else been contacted? - See more at: http://www.lotus7.club/forum/chitchat/order-delays...
There's plenty more after that in the thread.

Well i've had a chat with Caterham midlands and although very apologetic were a bit cagey about the real reason for the delays it seems that there are pushbacks across the range from the 160 to the 620, the delays range from 3 weeks to 9 weeks and I got the impression that there may be further delays but I really hope that is not the case! - See more at: http://www.lotus7.club/forum/chitchat/order-delays...
From the same thread.

That's exactly what I was asking wasn't it, or did you just want to jump in with a little poison (as you so frequently do)
Nice jibe. However, if you actually knew anything you'd probably know a little bit about who Mic is. There's nothing like a load of internet rumouring to make life hard for companies. I know nothing about Caterham's current state so can't comment, but assumptions, unwarranted connections and chinese whispers of he said, she said are far more poisonous than me casting aspersions on what you actually know.Bert
