Hi

Looking to remap my R500D with MBE ecu. I understand these are locked by MBE/Caterham, I have heard that 1111 might work or 8654 and I've also been sent a bit of software that gives me 65535 from the .ecc file. According to the help file on Easimap6 there is an option to change the PIN under tools - it's not there... I think it might be there on earlier versions of Easimap. If anybody has remapped on of these or can give me any tips it would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

You're not going to do it without the correct software, there is not a numerical code to use.

So the Easimap6 software isn't any good supplied by MBE/SBD then? Any idea which one I need?

There are a select few that can do this - mainly Caterham approved, so it is unlikely you will be given a key that works - particularly if it is a recent car. My experience was that it was easier to start from a generic map supplied by SBD with a new ECU. Not a cheap option, but did give me the latest ECU and software and open up the whole ECU for future development. In the scheme of things, money well spent.

I've been told (and I am by no means certain I was told the truth) that the issue is that the maps are encrypted, so even if you can get in to them, there's nothing you can do. My understanding is that the MBE can be programmed in two ways - with easimap and is end user programmable, or encrypted, which is not (without the encryption software). Who knows? It beat me frown

I've also heard that it might need a firmware flash and a complete map writing for it. After reading lots on forums it doesn't seem the easiest of ecus to map etc. My tuner said the software wasn't very user friendly, I'll see how he gets on or I might dispose of it at get something a little more suitable.

Might be worth speaking to Steve at Track and Road or Troy at Northampton Motorsport or Mick at Attree auto's

Hello Albert,

The software that you have will let you view the map if you have the Diagnostic port wired into your ECU.

I was able to unlock my Caterham race cars MBE ECU same as the R500 using easimap and a download cable.

Steve at track and road will be able to remap the car, but as someone else said if its an early R500 you will need a new firmware but Steve can do this and then map the car.

PM if you want any help and if your local I can have a look at your map for you.

Many thanks for the info. Mine's a 2010 car with diagnostic port. I have the cable and can read the live data but mapping is a bit above me (and I don't want to c**k it up!) Which pin code did you use? I understand you can switch it off but that doesn't seem available on Easimap6.

With a 2010 car I think you're on to a loser, but make sure you are the most advanced profile as that lets you see/do more. You'll see live data and some setting but not the maps. Much of the recorded data will be default number such as 6666.

If you ever get it working let us know!

On the new cars it can not be done. Sorry. You can not even wipe it and start again!

But on the plus side I can sell you a new MBE 9A4 that will plug right in and has all the options for all the additional functions available/included. - You will need to map the car gain though.

Thanks Simon, I was worried that might be the case. If you could PM me a price for a replacement and also if you do a launch control kit too? Or email me on r500colin@gmail.com
