Supersport R engine upgrade by CC

I think that represents good value for money to be honest. There's quite a bit of work involved - I'd be interested to know if the do it with the head on, or take it off?

My mistake! I was thinking it was the R400 upgrade from 210 to 220. http://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product.php?id_prod...
Without question this is a worthwhile upgrade. Had it done to my R400D a few years ago now and the difference is tremendous. Better throttle response, much more torque, firmer throttle (standard version is way too light and ended up with the car kanagarooing down the road many times), better noise. I track mine a lot and have never had issues with noise at sensible tracks. Have even done Bedford. I run a Raceco exhaust and no cat.

This is definitely on my to do list for next year. I don't need any more power - 180hp is plenty for me on the road just now, but I do need more noise. The Duratec with large silencer is just a bit too civilised for my liking. Needs more snort!
You will not be disappointed - The noise was just as important as the speed for me - The blue flames were a bonus !! Onward kindly invited me out for a spin today. Dress code was a warm outfit, hat and large balls. It was quite slippery. We were not always facing in the direction of travel. This car is monumentally quick.Surely the exhaust flames should not feel as naughty as they do?
Fortuitously, we are old chums and so he let me take the reigns for what was to be a very generous period of time. As we swapped places in the car, it was difficult not to feel trepidatious - it is clearly a highly focused piece of kit. Initially, it feels grumpy and awkward at very low speeds - Thankfully, it is so desperate to get going that you don't have to endure that for too long. It is hilariously loud and has as much power as you could ever want for public roads (and then a bit extra, just in case). Yet unlike many modern sports cars, you don't need to wade too deeply into the sea of speed to get a very big thrill.
These are fantastic cars and to cap it all, we got a highly positive response from our fellow road users - A big thumbs up to this excellent example of British engineering.
