As I am thinking about replacing my R400 duratech that I have had from new could anyone tell me what the 420R is in terms of differences/spec etc: Is it worthwhile changing - after 6 years I feel the need for a change. Is there a model now between the R400 and the 620R?
I don't think there will be very much difference at all between your R400 Duratec and the newer 420r.If your r400 has throttle bodies, it is probably going to be a more responsive engine anyway, I think it was pretty much perfect with TB when they created it.
Also you may have the optional stack dash too, the newer cars no longer have the option, and have gone back to the traditional a gauges.
In terms of power they are also very close, so you will hardly notice any difference.
There is no UK model in between the 420r and the 620r, just the euro spec 485.

Hya, that's fine. Think i'll just keep the car and maybe have throttle bodies fitted as an upgrade. But always looking and changing my mind what to do!
No probs, I think that throttle bodies transform the 2.0 Duratec, but they are not cheap.I think you can still get the upgrade from Caterham but it's not cheap, the web site online parts store always says out of stock, best just to ring them up and ask if they can get one in for you.

In my experience "out of stock" doesn't mean that - it just means someone hasn't bothered to update the stocklist!I think you can still get the upgrade from Caterham but it's not cheap, the web site online parts store always says out of stock, best just to ring them up and ask if they can get one in for you.
