Although I think the fellow would probably get more for it if he got it registered before putting it up for sale.
Fully agree, he's daft to sell it in this state unless it's really hard to register. Caveat emptor me thinks.

Thanks everyone for the input and knowledge. It does look very much that the car needs to be registered before considering. Worth following just to see if it does get Caterhams blessing.

I've just asked the seller the obvious question,
"Are you happy for me to bid on the assumption that it comes with a certificate of newness from Caterham?"
See if he answers.

I received an email saying that he has the certificate of newness from Caterham - or, rather, they have confirmed they are sending him one.
