I'm a member of the Facebook group and great as they are I feel they're not as good as an open to all style forum could be.
To me as a new comer to the whole Facebook thing I find the postings/threads too instant and short lived.
Maybe I/someone needs to start an open free forum for 7 minded people.
Will dedicated forums take over from car clubs?? Probably......

Now seems to have evolved to KCS http://www.kitcarsupplies.co.uk/
IMHO the problem with 'new' forums is the personalities take a little time and effort to suss out, and, if they are dominated by a few individuals, then it's often a turn-off for many. Facebook on the other hand has its own problems with posts having a short life and poor archive. Pistonheads works for me because there's no underlying interest other than bringing like minded people together.

Not very busy though is it?
I seem to recall it was set up my Carl to help promote his business Seven Speed? However i can't seem to find any reference to the Seven Speed website any more, not sure if it is still trading?
Yep the FB pages are taking off in a bigger way than I'd ever have guessed. I posted a quick question about a gopro, a few hours later there were over 30 posts offering great advice and I ended up owning one from that very thread.
A great package deal from one of the members there. Impressed to say the least and pleased as punch.
Seems as busy as BC was in its orange guise a few years back. Well done guys, all 3 areas of the group seem very popular now. Great progress in a few short weeks.

I won't be renewing my membership of the 7 club, for me it's died and only frequented by lefties, the pc brigade and people who want to talk about human rights. The FB site has a thriving community and seems to be much livelier. Any question I've had has been answered rapidly and parts ive sold have gone in a flash.
Even though I've sold my 7 I think if the old forum had been retained or one like it I would probably consider renewing. However the new forum is so unlike anything I've experienced elsewhere and is basically like a glorified Twitter I won't be renewing. Tbh if I still had my 7 I probably wouldn't have renewed such is my intense dislike of the new set up.

I agree to an extent - does seem to be a bit of a Labour Party / Ed Miliband fan blog these days.Smollet said:

+1 It's a shame how quickly the club has gone downhill. It's a pity the management team didn't listen to the members and look to the future! Crossflow Kid said:
So where does all this leave the area meetings then?
One of the reasons I jacked it in was the concept of paying a membership fee to attend meets which cost The Club nothing and to which It contributed nothing in return. It's much the same as BC now being replaced by a free version.
I thinkyou can go to a pub where area meetings are being held and unless the landlord of said pub bans you you are free to wave at L7C members you may have met in a previous life. They may even buy you a drink One of the reasons I jacked it in was the concept of paying a membership fee to attend meets which cost The Club nothing and to which It contributed nothing in return. Yep - me too, just sent notification I´m not renewing either - a) I don´t have the AFE approval for another "toy" at the mo due to house refurb (are two bikes not enough for you dear??) and b) the new forum is carp...
ETA - I´m a luddite though & proud of it... I´m not interested in FB, never have been, and unlikely to ever be in the future - I have little desire to be hassled by a load of "old friends".....
