and a website I can't login to properly.
What is wrong with some people? I am a complete computer numpty, but I have found the new website/forum to be a doddle to use & (after a little practice) much more user friendly than the old site(s). Also if you do have a problem Shaun, Ian B and others are always happy to help you just have to ask.Edited by Guy Lowe on Thursday 23 April 07:37
My 'new site' login was for a secondary name I hadn't used for ages rather than for '7heavensoon'. I can log in temporarily via a one-time link when I request a password change, but when I get to the change password page it asks for my old password! I've been through the process a few times without success.
To be fair, I could have mailed and asked for help, but I suspect even if I had got past that hurdle, I may not have stayed. Just don't like the new site layout, and find the way that old posts were transferred in (without any working hyperlinks) incredibly annoying.
Like I say, I feel a bit sad and guilty, but the other benefits of being a member (trackdays, Low Flying, offers) didn't really interest me personally, so seems no reason to stay.

Your original comment said you were leaving the club because you didn't like the website. Your second comment gave a more honest appraisal of your reasons and there were other elements involved.
The website is only one element of a club. In most cases, people are choosing to leave for reasons other than their opinion of the website. Although it is a factor, in most cases it isn't the major factor.
I had difficulty initially getting signed onto the new site and I did get rather fed up and contemplated leaving as I don't take part in a lot of club activities these days and the web site is my main involvement. However, I persevered and was even contacted by a club committee member who "hand held" me through the process. That gesture kept me on board.

My membership is up at the end of the month and I'll be leaving as I no longer have a 7 and the new website has helped me make the decision but BC can be a useful source of info and at one time it was lots of fun but things change and it isn't what it used to be sadly. However I think the magazine has come on leaps and bounds over the past couple of years.
I must say that, a few issues not withstanding, I quite like the new site and I enjoy being a member of the club.
I realise that some of the longer term members dont like it but I guess it had to move on to remain current in the modern world of the interweb. I'm not trying to be contentious when I say it but - is the reluctance to roll with the new site down to a dislike of change or the actual site?
I realise things move on and change - I remember when I joined the Army being told that "It's not the same as it was in my day laddy" but for me coming in when I did it was pretty good and I had no idea what it was like in "His day". The truth of the matter is that those that really don't like it now will move and on and those coming in behind won't know any different and will like it as it is because it's all they'll have known.
I don't care if I'm considered contentious when I say this though - some of the old guard, read prolific posters and link chuckers, could do with moving on, their attitudes and they way they respond to others posts is dragging the forum down for sure.

Certainly wasn't hiding anything.
I don't do trackdays (TBH, would love to, but always have other more pressing uses for the money!), only flick through Low Flying and don't use the member's offers. For me, Blatchat was the club, and I said on more than one occasion that it alone was worth the membership fee. Sadly, that is no longer the case for me. The migration of posts from the old site was something of a disaster in my view because all the hyperlinks were deleted, making much of the years worth of user generated content much less valuable and in some cases useless.
I've had a really nice reply to my cancellation email from Martin, and I certainly don't want to leave on bad terms. As I said earlier, I do feel guilty for 'deserting' but I just don't see £45 value in continuing as a member at the moment.
