Wow, Lotus 7 Club's quiet ... how can we help it recover

I don't care if I'm considered contentious when I say this though - some of the old guard, read prolific posters and link chuckers, could do with moving on, their attitudes and they way they respond to others posts is dragging the forum down for sure.
That's why I left, its usually the case that a few ruin it for the masses. I now know of 13 people who have left the club in the last 6 months, yes, sure the website may have been used as an excuse and there's some small justification in what has been said by Eric, "People don't always tell the real story as to why they are planning to do something" however Crisps5782 comments "some of the old guard, read prolific posters and link chuckers, could do with moving on, their attitudes and they way they respond to others posts is dragging the forum down for sure" is in my opinion the real issue that the leadership seem spineless to do anything about, probably because the sarcastic, maligning and hostile tone is also embedded in some of the old school people on the management team.

That's why I left, its usually the case that a few ruin it for the masses. I should make it quite clear that I've never felt bullied, picked on, threatened or uncomfortable as a result of a posting. I'm merely pointing out the endless links and smart arse replies (when a simple answer would do) get my back up, is it enough to make me want to leave - not a chance but I do wish one or two members would ps off in to the sunset (if they did I think the forum would be a happier and busier place).

Oh hang on.......I don't have an issue with piss taking and banter, I expect that and rather enjoy it if I'm honest - my view and experience is greatly different from that you've described previously, the two don't compare.
Of course people are leaving the club for many different reasons and we may not share those reasons or their life styles, but the culture of attacking people because they choose a certain life style, are a bad speller or haven't read a post correctly doesn't justify attacking people, which for some sick reason appears to be humorous to many. The internet is not a place for the thin skinned or overly sensitive - which is fine by me. I feel I can handle myself if necessary in a heated debate - even if another poster is winding me up.
I'm not a flouncer by nature.
And I certainly wouldn't leave a club because my sensitivities had been irked by a poster on a web site. Good God, if that was the case I would have given up on PH years ago.

I would agree, however its not always what's said its why its tolerated and considered amusing that's concerning.I'm not a flouncer by nature.

I remember going to senior school when I was 11 with my best friend who was a boxing champion. Day 1 we walked into the playground to witness a crowd of kids standing around watching the school bully beating up some new comer, my friend jumped in beat the crape of of the bully (no more problems from him) and then told those who were watching that they were just as guilty for new kids bloody nose by standing by and doing nothing.

Here we go again. Your inability to differentiate between banter and abuse. Guy says let it go but you seem to be incapable of doing so.
Here we go again with the hostile tone. I think its obvious that we both have a very different criteria on what is banter & abuse is, I just don't share your conclusion.Edited by Smollet on Thursday 23 April 14:46

Wow, I'm glad I wasn't on blatchat in the good old days. This is like handbags at dawn !
Surely you have a choice, you like the club or you don't. Things change, if you don't like it, leave and get on with your life.
If you can adapt, then make the most of what the club can offer you.
I have been a member for about a week, and so far so good for me.

I'm a member of L7C and for £40 or so I don't really care whether the website is shoite or not, I may or may not renew as other forums have become a lot livelier (PH, FB, etc.).
As for open marriages and a sense of humour failure, I'd rather see a pic of your missus before I commit to that sort of thing (just saying!).
Bottoms up (as they say)!

ps I quite like ginger moggies, hate cyclists on public roads and ride a bike myself (on the road)...end of!
