It probably doesn't help when the merest whiff of criticism, feedback or suggestions as to why things have gone the way they have is dismissed (by MT or "ordinary" club members) as vitriolic rambling by people with a chip on their shoulder.

One be an improvement would be to get the AR's to actually welcome and encourage new members not encourage new members to go to a neighbouring area...... If the AR doesn't care about getting new blood into the club they shouldn't be AR's.

Just wanting to be an AR shouldn't be the reason for being one.

I'm a new owner but currently not a member and I can't decide whether to join.

Are you something to do with the running of the club?
Hi, yes that is one of the roles of an AR (to welcome new members), and if there are any that aren't, then I'd be interested to hear some details.
I agree that just wanting to be an AR isn't enough to be one, having said that, it's sometimes difficult to find people in an Area who a) have the time to do the role justice, and b) the inclination.
It's surprising how many people expect "things" to be done for them, but rarely volunteer to help out; but I guess that's the same in all clubs/voluntary groups though.
The only benefit an AR gets from the Club is free membership, and these are being reviewed on an ongoing basis now.

For my sins I volunteered to help run the Club and am on the Management Team.
Like everyone else on the MT we're only ordinary members who have volunteered our time to help the club.
Any member can volunteer and join the MT, and those that do elect the Chairman and Secretary (assuming there's more than one person willing stick their neck out and be a target smash )
You have to be thick skinned to join the MT as can be seen by some of the vitriolic crap that gets spouted (mainly on here by ex-members who've fallen out with the club for some reason), and although you try to do the best for the club you will never please all 2500+ members, and those that you don't are the one's you usually hear from.

FWIW there are MT decisions that I don't agree with, and those that I do, but in the end it's down to what the majority think is right for the club.

I sincerely hope you do decide to join the club (and don't base your decision on the few embittered characters you'll find on here) and if there's anything you'd like to know about the Club, or what's available in your Area (or provide any feedback that you think might be constructive for us) then please send me a message.

Whether or not you like or dislike the club's new forum, the club is so much more than that for the vast majority of it's members, and as mentioned above there are some great events that you often get into for free or a reduced rate.

Hope to see you at a few in the future byebye
Thanks for the reply. Rest assured my reason for not joining yet has nothing to do with what gets said on here.
I actually can't see what's wrong with the forum, as a non member I seemed to be able to search and find plenty of useful information.

Something I've been meaning to ask... Does the club still organise a Le Mans weekend?

Le Mans trips have been organised by individuals - both associated with the club, and not.

A good example is the Le BOG Club trips - of which there have been many to Le Mans.

We don't organise an exclusive weekend, but we do have a deal with Speed Chills that a fairly large number of members take advantage of for the 24hr
For the Classic there was also a group of about 24 members who took advantage of a Chateau that was exclusively for members and organised through a club member, which should be happening again next year. Club members were also able to park in a display area inside the circuit.
As with everything the things organised by "The Club" are simply individual members stepping forward and volunteering smile

Stop moan stirring and put the spoon away Arnie wavey
Current Club members seem to be happy with the present arrangements.

As the weather warms up there will be more Sunday morning breakfast blats arranged by club members. (There was a great one last Sunday) These for me are what I like best about the club & I have made a number of great friends.
The club is very active here in Kent (no small thanks to Ian) & I see we are to have a another new monthly meeting place smile It happens to be my old local.

For me it would be the ability to post pictures in the posts, for some reason I have real trouble doing this.
I would want to post more stuff if I were able to add pictures plus the for sale section would be more fun.

Went to Le Mans when some bloke called Arnie was running it, brilliant job. Would like to go again if Speed Chills are as good.

You need to upload your picture to the site first, or use a picture hosting website like flikr and then link to that. It isn't that hard once you get your head around it, but isn't as easy to use as Pistonheads.

If people are no longer enamoured with the club and have left, that's fine. They will have their own reasons and experiences for feeling that way

What I find strange is their enthusiasm for trying to put potential new members off joining.

To me it seems almost like a vendetta and an unwillingness to move on.
Completely agree. Let people make up their own minds. The activity of the club will vary from region to region and AR to AR

Try it. It's a years subscription not a lifetime commitment

Hello Arnie, just a quick opinion, as an ordinary member I went on several Le-Mans trip you organised, I also went independently and likely to go with Speed Chills, I just want to say a) Thank you for organising those in the past b) to my mates who organised the independent trip and c) I look forward to speed chills.

What I am trying to say is stop tarnishing your previous exploits that now seem to become increasingly bitter. Nothing is forever you me our sevens even big organisations change.......let it go, let the new MT do what they want to they will flourish or founder its not for you or me to say if they will or won't.

your opinion like mine is just like a Bellybutton we all have one, doesn't make you right or wrong but the constant snipping is making you look bad, going from a character to a troll.

Wishing you well, but please take time for reflection......we all get you where hurt but turn your negativity in to something positive.

As mentioned above it's quite easy when you get the hang of it - there's a users guide here that should help explain it.
