I took mine off - ran it over a few times and now keep it in the boot. You can't get points or fines for it falling off but you can if its the wrong size which yours is. The sticker has to be reflective vinyl as well.
I was even travelling behind a police car yesterday for about 2 miles and they didn't pull me. I was expecting them to but they didn't.
They look so much better without one
This is a good point no plate gives you more chance of being stopped but can say it fell off or broke off due to the terrible speed bumps that keep getting put in. where as like you said mine is out right to small and not legal. and with the rise in ANPR technology i imagine there will be a crack down on plates not matching correct specs.

I was looking at Evo this month and came to the conclusion that modern Sevens look better with a plate on the front!

I have a short reg, so it is legal to cut the excess off the ends.

Mine has come lose a couple of times & took the paint off with it so it covers a bit of an eye sore. yuck
