I'm glad you have apologised to Jonathan, Crispin. Thanks.
I did, I don't know that I needed to but I genuinely wouldn't want him to be upset or feel put out.
irony of course being that JK has spoilt quite a few peoples enjoyment of Blatchat but it would never cross his mind to apologise

Thank you. I was initially told by my doc to exercise my left leg more and get sunshine (went in with severe anemia initially). I felt a convertible with a clutch fitted the bill perfectly.

While it is hard for me to enter the car at the mo, once ensconced it is remarkably comfortable. Thankfully. The hard thing is I am unable to walk any distance, so limping across the far flung parts of a car park to avoid dings is annoying.

Good news is I was given a diet sheet by the hospital, copied from an Australian hospital... Top of the list were Rice Crispies (!) .... Life could be worse.

I've not got the time to read all the way through this but I've owned my 7 since my late twenties. I'm a designer so wouldn't even consider a Westfield (like buying an ikea lounger rather than a Le Corbusier original). I joined the Facebook forums as soon as I found them and so far they have been helpful and I've not witnessed any of the bickering mentioned here.

Blatchat although is a useful resource is overpriced as part of the 7 owners club (to which I don't belong). The reason I didn't join was that on attending a local 7 owners club meet I was told all the things that were wrong with my car, how I'd been mis-sold and ill informed on the purchase of my pride and joy by some idiot. I didn't feel welcome and it was quite a high average age. The facebook group seems to be the exact opposite - younger members who are interested, thoughtful and ready to share knowledge and tips.

Each to their own - I'm no concourse competitor. I just like super fast cars (with a design heritage) for less money than a 'rari. Live and let live - if you don't like somewhere don't go again. Simples.

I recently left FB voluntarily. It's very liberating, and makes one realise that it's mostly all just self-acclaiming garbage a lot of the time.
There are far worse things to lose sleep over, aren't there?
FB in general or just our page?

I was chatting with Cliff about you just last night actually - all nice I should add quickly!!

I'm having a break from FB as a whole. Not sure if it's a permanent thing or not. Some things about it I did/do find useful. Other bits, less so. Other bits, positively annoying.
Anyhow, as Oscar Wilde said, the only thing worse than being talked about.....is not being talked about.;)

You've got to be kidding.
Seriously, what does it matter to you if JK is offended in the first place, and whether or not an apology is forthcoming? Ok, so no one likes to think of someone they call a friend being slated but can't he speak for himself, or is there no Google link for that?
Or is this like the infamous ginger kid Christmas card thread on BC, where the issue wasn't whether anyone was actually hurt by it, but the fact that someone, somewhere could be?

Yes there is that and you have a point but that's not really the issue is it. Each to their own.

BORING!!! I've never posted in PH and in all honesty never use the site and after seeing the BS that goes on in here I doubt I'll ever come back. What I can say though is the FB page and its admin team deserve a huge amount of credit as none of the BS I see on here goes on on FB. It's very rare that a user will post an Inappropriate post and if they do they are swiftly removed, these guys give up their spare time to help moderate an extremely useful group where 99.9% of the content is relevant and useful, it's just a shame it's the 0.01% that gets all the press.

Once again, I agree. (!)

Yes, the FB team do deserve credit for their time.

However, the thread (and it was ONE thread only) that I expressed a concern about was started by Christian. The admin.

Up until that point I, like many others enjoyed the FB pages and found it a useful resource. And I would like to continue doing so. I cant see the buy/sell/trade or tech pages.

Yes, you can argue "why go there"... BUT thats the point. I ENJOYED the forum. I contributed. I had absolutely no idea that expressing a concern about a thread would lead to immediate banning. I understand Facebook pages are not a democracy, just I was amazed that there is no chance of a reasonable debate, even in private. I had signed up to go to Christians event at PT Sportscars and was arranging with a couple of other Facebook posters local to me where to meet. I was greatly looking forward to it. Being banned meant I could not go.

Christian has said he did not ban me. Arnie says the same. TBH It doesnt matter. What does matter to me is I tried to contact Christian, and was told that any replies would not be read. The first message was ignored.

As it stands I feel just like the previous poster who said he attended a L7Club meeting and was made to feel unwelcome. I was scared of the same sort of reception, I had no idea I'd get that treatment from the Facebook page. I was angry, confused and more than a little disappointed. It actually dampened my enthusiasm for having bought a Caterham, but luckily those great cars soon put a smile on my face when I drive it.

I saved up for ages for my Car. I am a true enthusiast. I feel I can contribute. But currently I feel I have had a door slammed in my face.

It's time to get over it I think. At the end of the day, the cars are for driving - not having arguments over.

Eric, I have to agree.

But currently it looks like my driving of the car will be restricted somewhat.

Enjoying other peoples posts, adventures, trial, tribulations on a busy and successful Facebook page is denied to me.

Even if I need to sell my car, that avenue is denied me through being banned from the tech and buy/sell/trade pages.

I cant even read the pages...

To be honest - my response is "tough".

I wouldn't continue demeaning myself appearing to be begging for acceptance. It's not very becoming of a chap.

If you want on-line Caterham chat, find some alternative conduit - such as right here.

To the OP
I was the one who put up the cleaner thread on FB, it was meant as banter and definitely not meant to offend, Christian wasn't around and so I was like a naughty little school boy, I was in the wrong and take what ever grief, abuse, slagging off or even deletion comes my way, if you so feel the need.

My Background,
Im from a Harley Group and to be honest im very colourful to say the least, as we all are in each others company, common yes, hard working don't give a fck type of guy, but 98% of what I post is genuine and harmless, I don't go out of my way to attack, complain or bully anyone, If someone has a problem I'd rather drive down and meet FTF, its the way im am.

I wont spend time getting into long winded debates on here, but felt the need to support Christian in what he has done for us on FB.

I have met some real nice guys so far on FB and feel its a nice place to be, yes there is loads of self obsessed crap being posted by me, but im new to owning a 7, and have plenty of enthusiasm, I wont apologies for that and if you don't like it, you can control what you see re my posts.

I love my new toy, want to learn, make new friends, and enjoy my time on the forums, so again if I upset you it wasn't intentional you have my sincere apologies.

As a member of PH, L7C and the Caterham FB page, I would like to say that in my experience thus far the FB page has been superb.

I didn't see this supposed 'fracas' that's mentioned above - and I'm a regular FB user - thus it must have been sorted out very quickly. The FB page to me is one of (very) friendly Seven-related content, whether it be sharing pictures of our pride & joy, buying & selling items (it's superb for this!) or just general Seven Q&A.

Are people who do not use FB missing out? Maybe. Maybe not. Only they can decide, however to criticise it without prior experience is somewhat short-sighted and not great for the wider Seven community as a whole.

Anyway, on a different note, here's a picture I took of my Seven the other day thumbup

I agree with this.

More pictures and less arguing.
