De Dion is heavy, my old car ex vx academy racer, with 2.0xe 16v boat anchor added, dry sump stronger but still live axle, 2x tillets, half cage, fuel under 1/4 & it was 515kg.

Edit on proper corner weight scales that is, not the scrapyard accurate within a tonne jobs.

My 2l Zetec came out at 548kg with half a tank of fuel, that's without a spare wheel nor heater,
Still my wife asks every time she's cold "tell me again, why did you take the heater out?"

I don't wish to be rude but No Way an SV weighs 523 with spare, jack and fuel!

My Busa on Intercomp scales is 456kg. - SLR cage lightweight wheels and hillclimb slicks, no reverse box and 2 lt fuel.

I have not drilled parts or anything but there is only a partial "car Loom" - there are additional looms for paddle shift though. No rear floor. There is nothing spare in there!

As a K it weighed 512 - 520 kg depending on wheel/tyre combination. That was with paddle shift but also with small Elite sequential.

I have also seen numerous other cars K and sigma which correlate to the same 510 -530 kg area.

My own SV (Sigma) is significantly heavier and it has no spare wheel and jack!
Well Simon, heres my proof of the day.

I knew when writing my post it was going to read wrong.

I guess I wasn't questioning you but I am still amazed and questioning of the scales.

SV Chassis should be a min 25kg more.

My Superlight 150 (sigma engine) was weighed at 532kg.

That was with:
All fluids including 1/2 tank of fuel
Half hood
Hood Sticks
Sidescreens
Windscreen
Heater
No washer bottle (removed because it rattled a lot)

I'm surprised at how light it is with all that equipment on board.
Interesting! What seats was that with? Tillets or leather?
GRP Tillets.

Not a problem Simon.
The Scales were brand new and I presume they were calibrated before purchase, my friend has purchased them (Intercomp) @ around @£2K.
I expect them to be spot on for that smile
The chassis is the very first SV (it was the Caterham prototype), maybe its changed since then?.
David Fender the previous owner, is also amazed at the weight. 8)
Once I got in it it was perfectly setup for me and added my 110kg spot on. David had it set up for him and we are about the same height.
The car was in aero mode at the time and had 1/4 tank fuel or thereabouts.

I wonder if things were not fitted etc.

That weight would be a good weight for an S3.

Its the jack and spare wheel that really puzzles me.

I expect 5kg for the jack. And 12 - 15kg for the wheel tyre combo.

That makes a very light S3.

They must have changed something since then.

As a further point of reference, when I last measured my 2009 SV with:

Duratec (wet sump, cast inlet manifold)
5sp gearbox with BMW diff
Roadsport 'trim' (S-type seats, screen/wipers and half hood)
15" Caterham wheels, Toyo T1R tyres
All fluids inc. ~3/4 tank of fuel
Carbon front wings
Small lights

it was 600kg when measured on some accurate race scales.
