Advice please.

Just had the Think Auto mechanical oil pressure gauge fitted and the length of hose between the sender mounted on the offside engine mount to the gauge as supplied is far too long.

I have measured it and the length would appear to be 5'06" but that doesn't allow much excess. I remember reading somewhere it is sensible to allow for the gauge to be pulled out of the dashboard and the hose joined to the gauge; and of course cannot now find this topic.

Can anyone who has a sender mounted in a similar fashion, confirm if a 5'06" length of (Aeroquip) hose is too short / too long / just right?

Wouldn't you connect to one end, run ti through, leave some slack, cut it and fit to the other end? I'd be surprised if anyone has measured the actual length needed.

Can Aeroquip be cut down to size in the same was that Goodridge hose can? You simply unscrew the fitting, use a dremel or sharp hacksaw to cut the hose then re-attach the fitting.

The fittings are usually good for 3 uses.

Isn't that a bit OTT for the op line?

I am happy to pay £23 for the piece of mind. Horses for courses, I guess.

My race car has some plastic tubing which seems to work just fine!
