Do you have far to go for the IVA Nigel and any ideas of when the date could be.

It seems that your prediction months ago about the two cars being ready for the road at the same time was spot on, my IVA is the 12th May

They contacted me on Friday to as that they would have a date for me in three working days Craig, so I expect to get the date mid week.

My car still needs to go to Bookatrack at Donington for the post build, and then from their to the IVA centre at Nottingham for the test, so,yes your probably correct we will, have our cars on the road about the same time.

Your car looks great in build at the factory.

I've added a small update to my blog which covers the great new tool I have just bought for my durable dot poppers.

Here's a picture.

If you want to get one yourself, here's the US website I purchased mine from:

Yes that is a good tool, I bough one some while ago. Be careful not to squeeze the fasteners too much, it can easily apply enough force to split the brass 'rivet' part as it swages it.

Yep thanks for that, I think it needs experimentation to find out the best gap between the die and punch.

Weirdly the instructions say to adjust it until the two items touch, but that is clearly too much.

Thankfully from all the builds I have completed over the years I have plenty of spares, so I few mishaps so not a big issue!!

By the way I saw your comment on your leaking radiator.

Last year when I built my car the first rad had a tiny leak on the weld on one of the bleed bolts.

The replacement had a leak in the weld around the tank part of the rad, two in fact.

The third had a bigger leak on the bleed bolt weld.

I gave up at that point and had the leaky weld repaired myself!

Thanks, yes it was an odd one that.

As always I assumed I had done something wrong, and it was a pipe or hose clip or something.

But after checking all those joints, and it still dripped for no reason, I traced it back to a weep in the core.

At least Derek sent me a replacement quickly!

My car went off to Bookatrack at Donington yesterday for its post build and IVA at Nottingham.

Fingers crossed for a first time pass!

I hope so, the car is being delivered to the house so it would be great to get it run in before I return back to work on the 30th.
Pouring down in Kazakhstan right now and I do mean pouring!
