Does anyone know if it is possible to use the original MEMS computer when upgrading a k engine from 1.6 to 1.8 with new crank and camshaft etc.?

To go from a 1600 will involve more than just a change of crankshaft.

The calibration of the 1600 and 1800 has a similar fuel and ignition slope, an increase in fuel pressure form 3 bar to 3.75 bar will get very close, an alternative would be to replace the injectors with some which are around 12% greater in capacity. I have done this a number of times quite successfully.

So in short it is possible, what cam change had you I mind?

Thx for the reply Dave. Not sure if they will use pipers. it's a danish tuning and race company that will do the work. I was just curious if it was possible not to change the mems to an emerald or other, but only work on the engine as such. Especially since my only knowledge comes from reading your page Dave and you use emeralds, right?

The stock ECU copes with cams up to around 264 degrees if they are timed correctly , outputs up to around 150/155 BHP are within its remit. It won't cope with hotter cams or throttle bodies.

Yes I do use Emeralds but generally only for engine running throttle bodies. Most upgrades that are still on a plenum run happily on the MEMS.
