Mine came with aeroscreen and I found the speed I could manage on a road was determined more by what my face/eyes could stand than what the car could do.

So I fitted a windscreen.

Then I found the windscreen was a real liability on track because it obscured nightlines for apexes etc.

Now I use windscreen for road, aeroscreen for track. Seems obvious to me, and as someone said, it takes literally 5 minutes to change over

biggrin It was parked up at a local beer stop by the lake. It's a gorgeous 850s with original file/book pack etc and even a set of original string-back driving gloves yes

The car is for sale. LHD and two owners from new. Have asked about price and waiting.....here are some other pics of it (apologies for thread hijack) wink

I've got a Carbon Aeroscreen fitted to mine... Whilst its great for driving on circuit with your helmet.

It's not always fun driving on the road with a helmet. And whilst you can get away with just sunglasses..

It is risky and likely you'll get bugs / stones in your face.

p.s Mine is for sale :-) Carbon Aeroscreen circa £13,000 with free car

Having a conversation in Caterham isn't the easiest thing to do - but it's practically impossible at speed with a a deflector or aero screen - and obviously a helmet only makes things worse.

It's a fair point Mark although having been out in several cars with carbon aeroscreens the Brooklands set-up is remarkably different and far less 'open' to the elements I find. Less buffeting. And because you do, in effect, sit behind a small glass windscreen your noggin is a bit better protected from flying debris. Just a bit mind..... wink

What do the MOT chaps say about aero-screens? Or is it a case of refitting the windscreen for MOT?

Am recently back from a superb 1000+ mile trip (thanks Eugene7! beerclap) which I did aeroscreened. This was the first time I'd done such a significant distance thus. It confirmed my preference over a windbreakscreen! driving

What I learnt was the necessity for headgear (bandana/buff was my preference) otherwise the wind blows your hair and exposes the normally-covered hairline resulting in both wind- and sunburn! yikes

All the previous comments re ballistic/industrial-quality eyewear are also essential. thumbup

Just fitted an aero screen from Meteor Motorsport to my seven. Pleased with the results and first drive was less turbulence than full screen and no side screens.

Also made myself a wall rack to store the full screen and stanchions (top of first pic)

It came with the car when I bought it in 2005 - it's a hand made double-duck thing. I have a custom hood in the same style material too. The first owner was a boat nut so I assume that he had them made up by someone in the trade.

'Soft bits for Sevens' make tonneaus to suit......

I really like the rack you've made for the windscreen, I could do with putting some holders on my wall for my aero since I usually keep the windscreen on.

I've got the same screen and found it great, I'm not entirely happy with my choice of side mirrors though. Which ones are you using, and are they flat or convex? I find with the flat ones the angle is too narrow and I can hardly see anything behind me.

I spent 5 minutes putting a couple of wooden blocks on the wall to hold my aeroscreen.

I've been running with Meteor's clear aero for a few years now. A few observations:
  • By now it's scratched so much, I'm starting to wonder what is the point of a clear screen biggrin
  • The mount points for the sidemirrors have hair-cracks. There is no flat surface, and the flat metal brackets apparently cause stress. Better to use something soft and thick between brackets and the screen, if mirrors need to be mounted on the screen.
  • I did not like the bulky centre support, and the screen doesn't stay in place without it, so I made a custom mount, as shown in the picture. It's a plastic wedge with a hole that goes through the scuttle. A 4 mm bolt is all it takes to keep it rock solid.
  • The screen could be a little higher without blocking any view, if I'm honest. Especially since it's clear. I can see the opposite side front wheel looking OVER the screen. It would probably work great with a lowered floor. Now there's something for the wishlist...
