So finally will be driving one of those toys (1 day hire booked). Will be a roadsport S3 125bhp

Really looking foward to it

At the London Motorshow tried to sit in one and found it more confortable then I thought.
Still a little bit concerned about what might happen in case of a car accident (which is also why my wife already said "if you get one you will also get a divorce"

Suggestions regarding road or quiet places around Gatwick?

Having been rear-ended and been involved in a head-on I can attest that they are strong little cars. The Mrs was present on both occasions and is still happy touring etc. A side impact may be somewhat different.....

not that I want quiet places to do crazy things but only not to be stuck in the traffic for the whole time I have the car!!!

Riccardo, have a look at this similar thread for a good route - some very helpful replies -

Also, have a look at this quick video for an idea of how strong these little cars are - (apologies for Daily Mail link...!) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2169103/Mi...
Having said that, you do have to be extra wary on the road - just obvious stuff like keeping out of truck mirror 'blind spots' and reading the road well ahead. Treat it like a very big motorbike and you'll be fine.
Had mine 3 years now and they are simply superb cars.

Also (and this is what scared the life out of my wife), keep in mind that you're so low to the ground that when you're cresting hills, oncoming traffic can't see you until you've arrived. Even a motorbike is more visible than a Caterham.

You lucky rascal! I did the same last year and it was fab!!! Blue S3 with a white nose stripe.

Being a first timer I found the pedal box very small at first and from memory the brakes have no servo - but you get used to this within a few minutes.

We spent the day going round the Ashdown Forest, before heading towards Groombridge, Fordcombe and Penshurst - lunch at The Spotted Dog was good (they also have classic car events there). Then we went over to Hever and Edenbridge and up and down Ide and Toys Hill before heading back. There 'may' be a hump back bridge at Hever....

Such a great day. The GF really enjoyed it too - she had no idea what the fuss was about before hand. Everyone waves to you including white van man.

Oh, you'll be the fastest thing on the road all day (within reason).
