I think the answer will depend upon the width of your front wings,
see how far inside the wing edge is your tyre, this would be about how much you could adjust (reduce) your off by without going for the Ricer look
if you want the wheel further inside, check the caliper clearance first.
The book answer I think would say it will effect your handling and increase wear on the bearings.. but I think it makes little difference on a low miles car.

Thks. , does this mean I could use quite different offsets with regards to the geometry of the front axle? And it is not so important to have the center of the wheel where according to construction of the front axle it should be?
