Is it possible to mount the big SLR fan, without the need of the relay kit/loom?
I run an Emerald K6 and use the rad switch as a fail safe.

If it were tyres, petrol, oil or mine is better than yours... loads of opinions and I know it all attitude... as it is a honest humble question, nobody cares.

I remember people talking about this would be better than L7C at some point... guess what? They are the same. Facebook groups also...

As in any forum, one or two handful of people "control" or try to control it.

Thank you for not helping...

Cheers.

PS- Don't mind replying to this, as I will not read any posts... Too fed up with Seven owners that only want knowledge for themselves.

I can't comment on the Emerald as I don't have one, and none of my previous Caterhams had them either.

However I would be surprised if an ecu has the Ability to switch a large current item such as that fan without a relay in the circuit controlling the load.

Of course the ecu can provide the signal to switch on the fan at a required temp for the appropriate temp sensor,,but only because to the control side of a suitable relay in the fan supply circuiti.

Also from that picture of the wiring loom you have linked too, it looks like it has a relay built in?

So why not just get that loom and wire it to the output of the emerald fan control output?

Also can't comment on why people haven't responded, I suspect much like me, if they don't have an emerald ecu they have no knowledge to answer your question!

I have just posted my answer in the tech talk Facebook forum too.

That way more people with more knowledge than me regarding the Emerald may respond.

Just found this for you on the emerald site.

Main cooling fan control
The ECU has a dedicated cooling fan control output that is activated by the engine’s coolant temperature. This 7output switches to earth when active. The cooling fan control output should only be used to switch a relay and not directly wired to the cooling fan motor itself. Having separate ‘On’ and ‘Off’ settings means you can set the temperature at which the cooling fan switches on and also the temperature the engine must cool down to before switching the fan off.
The air temperature switch will not be used in most cases, only certain ECU versions will have this function enabled. This function can have various uses, e.g. for switching on a charge cooler when the inlet air temperature reaches a given threshold.
To adjust these on/off values press TAB to activate to desired setting and then use the up/down arrow keys to change the setting.

Sorry missed the point that you have a K6 type.

Here's the link for that version.
