I bought Caterham's ex-demo R500D to replace my R400K early this year and I have to say I love it...
Third Caterham and by far the best mix of engine I've had so far (first was a VX HPC), low down torque for easier drive coupled with huge rev-ability at the top end when you really want to push it means it never fails to put a smile on my face.
I'd say do it! (Caveated with if you can find the right one, mine was/is very clean as had most of bits rebuilt at factory).
